Honda 2000?

What's the story o this car? I heard that it's 240hp from a 2.0 little...er..I mean liter engine.
What are the times on that buggy?
That's a SICK power-to-weight ratio!
I was gonna race one of the light, the other day, but it seems he wasn't interested. I thought it was because he knew I would beat him. Now I think he didn't wanna bother with a "slower" car like mine. The same way I ignore some ricers that I think are not worth racing due to my car's assumed and/or proven supperiority.
Has anyone raced this litte speedster?

It's called a Honda S2000. They are pretty quick but in a magazine artice it said the only way to get 5.2 0-60 times was to launch at like 4 or 5 grand, and that you should only do that if you wanna be on a first-name basis with your parts dealer guys. I would say a mildly modded 350 TPI could take one. They are pretty quick but they arent the super cars that Honda boys think they are. A fourth gen LS1 Z28 or SS Camaro will kill one stock. He would likely beat you stock vs. stock but you could probably take him with a few mods. I think they run low 14's/high 13's.

As a fun car to drive around in i hear they are great but as a daily driver they suck *** b/c there is no power until the 4-5k mark. To get the hp out of the car you have to rev the **** out of it.

From what I hear. The low 14 second time was acheived by a redline launch and redline powershifting. Supposibly if you dont drive it like that. Then it can only go high 14's, low 15's.

A little over a year ago(before my new trans and Cold Air) I raced a friends which he had just traded his beautiful silver 6spd 99 Corvette(dumba$$) I raced him twice from a 20mph roll up until about 80 and I could hear that thing strung out at 9 grand, while my 350's torque waxed him pretty easy and put atleast 4 cars on him

Yeah, I guess you guys are right. The Jap 4-bangers do have sh*tier torque curves and all the power is up there in the motorcycle engine land. Sorta.
I do wanna catch one of these little suckers again. I just hope the next one has enough "*****" to race me.

pontimaniac90 that is not a sick power to weight ratio thing it is a hp per cube thing. And power to weight ratio only works up to about 60 mph then wind drag starts coming into play and you better have some real power to drag. Thats why all thes ricers think they are fast because they go good from 0 to 60, hell even a 2.3 pinto feels fast off the line compared to a 283 powered 67 chevy station wagon because the car is light. But the station wagon will have more top speed.

Honda designed that thing to try and enter the sport convert field, like Miata, and even tried competing with Boxster, Boxster S, TT, A4, etc.

My friend, with a 300ZX, has beat one before, simply because the thing has no torque (still a 4-banger) and with such a high power band, it takes a while to reach the opitmum power range, which is, as stated before, 4-5K revs.

Like all products from Honda, still a waste of cash.

Yes the Honda S2000 is over priced. It makes 240 Hp but only at 157 ft-lb of torque. That is ok though because it has a factory 5.13 rear gear a six speed transmission and you spin the crap out of the thing. Launching the car is easy you rev it to where just before it hits the rev limiter and then dump the clutch. 157 ft-lb of torque is not going to send the car going sideways. This car could be made into a wicked drag car with a 6.14 rear gear and the suspension to match. Do not underestimate horsepower and RPMS. After all Pro-Stock cars take 500 cid big blocks to 9 grand. These cars only make about 700 ft-lbs but make around 1050 horsepower. Making torque at upper rpm is how you make a car go the fastest.

It doesn't matter cuz I will waste it, it cost less for me to buy a whole new engine, gears, and brand new trans for what they spend on mods alone. whew, they suck

I know one thing: you sure cant go 0-60 in 5.2 secs by dropping the clutch at 4-5 grand on those pathetic factory tires... theyre like 195-50r13s! Are they RWD or FWD? If they are FWD, im not worried, I have yet to see a ***** do a decent launch without peeling out all over the place.

The S2000 is a RWD car. Yea if you dont launch it at high RPMs teh S2000 isnt something to be afriad of. But on the freeway it can probably do ok.
