What will my 1/4 mile time be?

Ok, I have a 79 corvette. I rebuilt my motor and it is making about 300 hp & lbs of torque. I also have a 100hp shot of nitrous so that puts me at 400 hp & lbs of torque. It has a TH350 trans and a 3.55:1 rear end ratio. I think the car weighs 3,600 lbs or something? I can launch without wheel spin and engauge the nitrous at around 2500 rpm and it will stay hooked up. So the question, what do you think my 1/4 mile times will be?

Umm, probably 12s or 13s. But seriously, those times are with what you listed as mods and specs. Really, you should just go to the track and find out! Don't really worry about timeslips until you get to the track. Just have some fun with your car first. I would activate nitrous at WOT, unless your WOT is at 2500 rpm, which I doubt it is.

The motor is a SBC 355 fresh rebuild with quadra jet carb 600-650 cfm? Wiend duel plane intake. I have the biggest cam recommeded for a stock torque converter (cant remember the exact #'s) The heads are a 1.94 intake valve 1.5 exhaust 76 cc chamber head. Flat top hyperutetic pistons. Guessing close to 9:1 compression. Duel exhaust with full length headder and cross over pipe. Torque convert is stock no stall. I am at WOT the whole time but I have to wait until 2500 maybe 2000 rpm to engage the Nitrous bucause if I did it earlier I would probably start breaking connecting rods and things of that nauture The take off is going to really slow my time down because I have to wait to hit the Nitours and I dont have a shift kit so my shifts are a little slow and soft but it does go like hell I guess I'm just wondering about what time I'll get but I will be going to the track hopefully this summer to find out for sure. Any more guesses on my time? I was hopeing to break into the 13's

Umm, I'm sure that torque converter has a stall, all torque converters have a stall. I'm guessing if it's stock, it's a 2000 (est.) rpm stall. Try powerbraking it, at the point of "stall speed", more torque will be transferred, and the wheels will most likely break loose. When that happens, what RPM that happened at, that is your stall speed.

Ya, I guess I phrased that wrong. All converters would have a stall but what I was tring to get at was the converter is stock with no higher stall over what stock one would be set at. Ya when I take off I can break torque it and helps launch it off the line but it still suffers. It has a possi with 245 on the rear and the vette has good weight transfer so it is hard to get those babys to break loose. If it is a little wet, sand on the road, or turning it will break them loose and spin it pretty good.

In the 12's huh.... That would be nice If I get mid to low 13's I would be pretty happy. I could pick some races on the street and not worry about consistantly getting my *** handed back to me
