Ran a '02 WS6 tonight

I lost of course, but not by as much as I thought I would. It was just a fun run against some guy I ran into tonight. His car was stock aside from a catback. It was also a 6 speed. We ran from a dig and I spun pretty hard off the line. We were about even until I shifted into 3rd. Then he started to pull on me until he was about a car length ahead, at which point I let off. We met up later and he was as surprised as I was that mine ran as good as it did. Not too bad for a stock 102xxx mile L98 I think.

Re: Ran a '02 WS6 tonight

well driven ls1 t56 fbody can be anywhere from low 13's to mid high 13's depending on driver and vehicle weight.

My 99 TA with auto only did 13.4's at 104 bone stock with a muffler change/stock exhaust piping/lid/filter.

L98 with a stick could be a high 13's car...they have run low 14's with stock auto and handicapped 2.73-2.77 gears. 3.70 gear/T5 manual L98 would be a quick car...I can see you hanging with a LS1 car that wasnt as well driven til 3rd gear. My bolt on L98 hung with GTO LS2's til top of second

Once you run them out in 4th gear, its not so good. LS1 too strong up top.

Re: Ran a '02 WS6 tonight

I destroy a lot of 4th gen's... When I run the 1/4 they are usually catching up, but don't catch me by the 1/4. My car isn't stock though. Those cars are deadly from a roll... My car may beat one in the 1/4, but the same car from a 45-50 roll and I might be in trouble.

My car ran a 14.01@101, but that was with a 3.27 rear. I haven't ran it with the 3.70 yet. Besides getting better tires, any tips on how to limit wheel-spin on the launch?

There is a guy who claimed he has swapped 5 speeds into stock 5.7 TPI's and run 13.7's... I don't remember his username though.

That is a pretty good run. What was your 60ft and what is all done to your car?

13.7's sound a bit optimistic lol. My 60ft was a 2.126 on that pass. My mod list is on my VB Garage.

If you got down to a 1.8, I could very well see you running 13.7's... try some drag radials.

Re: Ran a '02 WS6 tonight

L98 with exhaust and stall will go 13.6's with 3.23-3.42 gears. A stick with 3.70's should beable to match that if you launched at a higher rpm and the clutch held. mid 1.7 60 foots.

That car will hang with a stockish Ls1 thru a few gears

Cool story dude... I have seen your thread. You haven't looked to see if it is a 305 or a 350, nor have you taken it to the track, therefore anything you say isn't too credible. I saw the video, and yes you beat him... but for all we know, you could have aftermarket heads, cam, and intake.

in 1992 ran 13.76@101 mph with underdrive pulley, cat back exhaust, airfoil and slicks.
low 1.8x 60'. doesn't take alot of mods to make an l98 respectable.
