Me vs MR-2

Alright well this girl at my school has a '94 Toyota MR2, manual, and thinks her car could destroy my '87 SC with a LG4 (about 20k on the engine), auto, a recent tune-up, and flowmaster catback. My car is in good running condition i've drove in her car it would seem close, it also seems she doesn't know how to race very well if that gives me a slight advantagelp, any one know about these cars? Thanks for your help

If she can drive it, then the best she will be able to do is a 16 flat. If you can beat that then race her. those cars have about 130 hp and 130 ft/lbs, but they only weigh about 2600lbs.

*1989 RS
*Red, Daytona Turbo fiberglass hood, chrome 16x8 IROC wheels
*355 CID
*TPI ported plenum, SLP siamesed runners, Edelbrock high flow intake
*Edelbrock TES Headers (getting SLP 1 3/4 this summer)
*Richmond 3.73, Auburn Posi
*Modded 700-R4, 2800 stall converter
*NO recent time slips.

the turbo models had A LOT more power than that! IF its a turbo model and she can drive stick....prepare to see tailights...if its the N/A model you'll stomp her

I forgot about the turbos. They are just so rare that you will hardly see any of them.

Good luck with the race

That car is much better balanced though... might do better in auto cross... but it really doesn't help much in any other way. That car is worth buying just for the mid-engine setup. The better driver should win. I saw an article in some import magazine about building it up with 400 Hp... that was a dual turbo setup though. I bet that car was ****in wicked

I raced and older mr2... maybe near the 90'2.... anyhow.. He pressed the gas before me... when I did.. he had about a hood length in front and didn't pull from me....

I was gaining when he stopped.. wasn't even an 1/8th...

An LG4 has 245 pounds of torque at 2000 rpm,the MR2 only has 130,that right there should tell you that you will win and if you have 3.27 or better gears then she's history.

Well i have the 2.73 one wheel posi but i still think i have a better shot b/c i race a lot and practiced torque braking for a bit. In a lot of the cases i think my torque makes up for the joke of the horsepower on my engine.
