Me > Cobra 96-98

Heh, today is the first day I get my car back and I'm heading east on 95th street at the Southwest Highway light. Well I'm in the left hand turn lane and traffic is dead, I see this pretty blue car and is it loud. As this pretty blue car drives by it revs its engine at me. Now I just reinstalled a brand new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, starter, the whole works. And while we were doing this we found that my harmonic balancer bolt was LOOSE. I've heard this can cause serious power loss. Neway, so I decide to crack a right hand turn from the left turn lane (noone was near me besides the Cobra). I catch up to him in 2nd and my car is purring, as I move closer I can hear the rumble of his exhaust overwhelm mine. I just prayed that it was a GT as its rumble came closer and closer. Well I pulled up next to him and it had a pretty little snake on the side, I just shake my head and hes got a little grin on his face. Giggle giggle I said, it's not gonna be that easy, I've beaten my friends Cobra at the track off the tree and I pulled a 2.1 60ft, but this time I didn't have to worry about traction! I was riding high about 4000rpms and my car pulls to about 5200rpms in 2nd. So he like nods me to go first and I said sure, you look like a sucker. So I take off in 2nd and he spun them hard, I mean I really heard them squeal. Well, squealing = no traction and I jumped a car length on him and powershifted into 3rd and that was the end of that race, he barely started creeping, we had to stop for traffic. So traffic gets out of the way, and hes got this puzzled look on his face like Iroc-Z went faster than my slowbra. So I drop her into 2nd this time I'm at like 4500rpms and I'm thinking gonna have to shift quick. We both go at the same time, I took off a little quicker and he spun out, I think the idiot was dropping it from 3rd to 2nd and spinning em. Neway, I jump on him again and this time I powershifted 3rd chirped mine and it felt like my car just jumped. Like it took off in 3rd and I gained on him with the shift, he also BARKED 3rd and started creeping, once the middle of 3rd I think my ram air picked up and we were even until like 85mph in a 30mph zone so we slowed down. He pulls up next to me I shrug my shoulders at him and he cracked a youie. Haha, it was so funny, I was just like, shoulda bought an LS1. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA. 305 > 281 (or whatever), who said you need a 350?!

Still waiting for my first cobra kill but I'll think I'll do it like you did, just look at the corbra emblem and look down and shake my head. That was cool!

I killed a Cobra once on the freeway. I had just raced my friends black '97 Mustang, it was a freeway roll on so obviously I toasted him, then his governor kicked in at 115. I u'ed back on the freeway and saw this black 96-99 Cobra 'vert just putting along so I start pacing him, he keeps going all slow coz a cop was pulling ppl over on the other side. I look over and this balding middle-aged dude gives me a "Ahh.. why the hell not?" and buckles up. This fool really tried and I know my car isn't the Mach 5 or anything, but I managed to stay ahead the whole time. We hit some heavy traffic and thats when he got a look at how a thirdgen can really handle. He followed me as I exited wanting to talk n' stuff, but I lost him intentionally.

lol im sorry but does anybody else get sick of these 2 paragraph long descriptions of street races that last all of 5 seconds. imho, people need to say something like:

tonight i raced a cobra from a roll and from a stop, and i won due to poor traction on his part.

keep it simple.

I don't mind em. What fun is it to read "tonight i raced a cobra from a roll and from a stop, and i won due to poor traction on his part." over and over again?

i dont have an lg4 i have a 350ho, and i sincerely doubt that your your engine is anywhere close to my 330 hp and 380 ft lbs of torque. i am not making fun of anybody, but i like going on the board and reading shorter stories. you raced a cobra and took 2 paragraphs to say so.

Details MAKE the story...I'd definitely leave them in. If you want to make EVERYONE happy, you can post an abbreviated "CLIFF'S NOTES" version at the bottom of your stories.

Keep the detail! i love readin kills/races that give a good detail of what happened. I love hearing how the middle-age crisis mustang owners rag on the thirdgens, right before they get smoked and have nothing to say at the next stoplight.

I had a similar incident with a cobra about 3 months ago. I was sitting at a stop light and I hear a loud exhaust rolling up and revving it pretty high as he rolled up next to me with his snake emblem taunting me. He had 3 friends in the car and they all thought they had found an easy victim. I just shrugged and smiled back at them. Next thing I know the light turns green and I took off on them..I shift second and I noticed they just caught traction hehe(slowbra's are sleds)Still had them pretty good..then we came up to the next light and they didn't even look at me. I was quite proud of my IROC that day. The 350 served me well..

Ya my slightly modded IROC spanked his almost $20k car. It looked as if mommy and daddy bought him it when he got his license. It felt pretty good to show him that a car 10 years older than and $14k less than his could leave him in the dust by that many cars hehe..it was great
