do you think i can keep up with a 95gt mustang? there is a yellow one that is kicken around here and was wondering if i can take it on, i have a 92 firebird auto with tbi and thought i would ask this because i belive that tbi is faster than you guys without it think. :P
i will not beable to race him for a little bit because i am down becasue i think a chip would help my preformance out a lot and make me much faster because i feel slow right now and the chip should help me out.

 

You won't beat him but you can try. I would say you're prolly running low 16's while the Stang's running mid 14's (if you are both stock) so he would have you by quite a bit.

 

Nope, the 94-95 SN95 Mustang runs in the vicinity of mid-high 15s.

I had one, it ran a high 15, and it only had 75,000 miles. Well it ran a high 15 until I dropped a built 351 in it. Then it ran a low 13. Well, it ran a low 13 until I wrecked it.

They weigh around 3550 lbs, the loaded ones are much heavier as well. A base firebird with advanced timing, bumped fuel pressure, other free mods should beat it out.

Oh by they way, that motor has 215 horsepower and 285 ft-lbs of torque. Not pretty with a 3.27 gear.

Depending on if he's got the T5 or AODE and assuming it's stock, he'll be running anywhere from mid 14's to mid 15's (or worse if he's a horrible driver). They came from the factory with 2.73's...3.27's weren't put in until '99.

My rear gears were 3.27 in my 95 Mustang.

Of course I had the t-5 though. AODE cars get the 2.73 treatment like always. 3.27 is an option.

I had 3.55 Ford Motorsport gears in there at one point, and it greatly improved from 3.27 gears.

One of my buddies has a 95 mustang GT and we just went to the track. He ran 15.1 with a 5 speed, exhaust, headers and intake. I beat him by a hair with a 85 LB9 (pretty much stock), so you would probably loose unless you have some serious mods. Give it a try and let us know.

actually i am not fully stock but when i race him i will tell you the results

 

How modded are you? The 96-98 Cobra's came from the factory making 305 hp. They make a lot of power up top, but aren't very torquey down low. I'd try him from a standstill first where you might get a good jump on him.

A bunch of my friends and I went to the track about a month and a half ago. A few of them had mustangs. One had a 97 cobra that was running 14.00 with minor mods, another had a 95 cobra with more mods than the 97 and he ran a 14.3, and my other friend has a 95 gt. His best was a 14.6 but he has 125 shot of nos which he said he didnt use, yet he said he was going to use it on that run and all his other times were in the mid to low 15's.

actually since i dont have any real thing to help with traction i wanna race the cobra from a rolling start but i might get a posi rear end soon yes yes i dont have it yet. but when i get that i can take off the wheels of my ta becasue it has decent tires for that.

firbird, the yellow GT is an actual 5.0 GT its a 95 and has all the options and is a manual..i asked him to pop the hood the other day....he probably doesnt know what he has and probably cant downshift thats why he dosnt accelerate very fast.....it has flows, lowering kit and cobra r rims on it and the guy said i twas "stock" i called bull**** and asked him to ask his dad(his daddy gave it to him) he cam back with the wheels were added but everything else is stock....i called bull**** again and havent heard back from him yet.....you will win against his 95 gt...now on the other hand, it depends on where you want to race me and the cobra to see who wins......its is 1998 convertible, with tan bumper inserts and is BONE stock(and pampered like a baby) only mod is pirelli P7000 tires.....i got the traction deal covered and i havent missed a shift yet so i think ill edge you out.....it'll be a close race with the cobra........and i know how to race the cobra too......

well then looks like i got me a race , i will tell you guys how bad i beat him you will probably beat me off the line bad even though i have 80ponds of tq more because of traction but once we start moving i can actually hook some up it up and i will gain, beat i dont know, just depends how fast you wanna go. and the disadvantages you have is its a convert extra # and the biggest is that its a mustang

my car did over heat, we took the thermo out..it still overheated, so we replaced teh radiator, now it doesnt overheat, we just havent put it back in yet...its an automatic because my mom wanted an auto for "gas milage" in 1991 when we brought it........if i had the choice i'd make it stick, why do you think i drvie the cobra more than i do my own car????

Hey buddman if you did not do any modifications you should find out the reason why it is overheating first instead of buying a something else and not fixing it, lol but i cant say much myself . we will see soon buddman the out come, how long have you been driving a stick, cause i know that you really cant drive your car which is not even a stick and driving a stick takes a lot of practice more than just driving the cobra around once a week just cruising. I see people miss gears all the time when there racing and they drive sticks every day as a daily car and they don’t really dive around like a granny, just because they can cruise around with a stick doesn’t mean anything if they can use the potential of a stick.

 

alright you crispy bastard.......i can drive the cobra w/o missing gears while racing, almost every other time i take the cobra out i "clean out the carbon" and i'll run through each gear as hard as i can, especially the 2-3 shift.......i can launch and race a stick better than i can an auto.......your going down.......your gonna get burnt again hahahahaha

ok so here it is i have set up the plan becaue you think that you can take me at a rolling start. we go at 15-20 something in there and lol you want to go to 50-60 for max speed during the race i say we go to atleast 80 if not more and i already know the place, so it is set.
