5spd launch??????

what rpm would you guys recommend dumping the clutch at to get the best launch...
now here are the specs:
92 RS
3.1L
5spd
3.42 rear (single tire fryer)
good road hugger tires...
flowmaster 80 2.5 in 2.5 out 3" tips(single muffler dual outlet)
K&N
holes in Intake Canister (that filter is in, dunno what its really supposed to be called)

What is a recommendation???
thanks

What's up? I launch at like 2000 rpms in my 3.1 five speed. I seem to have the one tire wonder as well and even at that rpm the tire still spins a little( Kind of bald tire...). I know it sounds pitiful but right when you finally connect, you can floor it right away. At least on my car. Hope i helped a little bit!

My experience is that both tires will hook up if they are good. If one side is going bald then it will spin because it has less resistance... posi will do the opposite. SO it isn't that big of a disadvantage. As far as dumping the clutch, don't do it that often. I don't drop at much more than 1500 RPM I find that frying the tires just slows me down. My experience is with the LG4 so it's a little different, maybe 2000-2500 will suit you just fine.

I have read in numerous car tests that with a manual small amounts of wheelspin actually produce faster 0-60 times. If you have access to a g-tech try it out. I'd like to see if that theory actually holds water.

I wish I had one of those, Thats gotta be fun...
But, alas, I'm poor, and all my money either goes in the car, or on my Girl...
so, no g-tech for me
Maybe I'll ask santa for one

With my 91 mustang and my son driving it, he leaves on the rev limiter about 6K. I also have slicks and some suspension work. The car gets 1.55 short times and both wheels come off the ground (I have pictures).

Try that sometime and see what happens.

the tires have a limit on traction...you want to be right at that limit when braking cornering or accellerating to put the max amt. of power to the ground...they should be chirping a bit but not all out squalling....a little bit is ok and means your getting the most traction out of the tire as you possibly can....prolonged squalling means youve broken the traction limit and you need to back off to go anywhere in a relitivly quick fashion

damn it if I could dump the clutch at 200-3000 rpms without bogging like you guys I would. but damn it I dont have any power till about 3000 or so. and really kicked in at around 3500 all the way up to about 7500 or so

but from a friends camaro I think he pulled the best launch at around 3500 or so though I dont know if he was slipping the clutch or not.

Don't get me wrong, but don't you want to brake at well below the tires maximum? It's probably not so safe to come screaching to a stop every time. Just pointing it out, I'm sure braking just slipped in there sneaky like.

3.42 rear
5spd
she's pretty quick... i may have overestimated her when i said those times though... judging by your response...
what do you think she might run???

well my best way is just to ease off the clutch as if i where takeing off normally and when clutch is fully out just nail it. I am dealing with a 305 TBI firebird with a set of richmond 3.73s and a posi unit. It may not be the best way but n e oher way couses my tires to break free and i dont like doin that at all. Even after im rolling and i nail it they break loose, i love them gears.....
