89 Formula vs. 93 TA
My buddy with a 93 TA that runs 13.3@101mph asked to race my 89 Formula350 with free mods. He said he would give me 5 cars, how would I fare? Should I race him?

Well, if your engine is running very well for a stock 350 and there are just the free mods done, he still has you by a full second in the quarter, not sure how many car lengths that'd be. I'd race him for the fun of it, but don't put any money on it.

"should be 10 cars for a full second...so, he'd beat ya by around 5 cars, giving you a 5 car lead...I think..."
Yup, it's about .1 second per car length. Tell him to let you have 10 car lengths.

The 93T/A just got a 3.73 gear and is now running 13.1@103MPH. I better race him before he dips into 12s.

Your going to race a STOCK L98 against that car?? Why don't u mod too, then at least he wouldn't have to give u a lead??

It's not 10 car lengths per second, that would be 130ft+ in distance between the cars.
Here are 2 races, me against an LS1 that beats me by 2 seconds, and he is not 260+ ft in front of me.
See if you can detremine the distances.

Did you ever think that you were at the track and reaction times would affect the car lengths..Say if I was racing someone at the track and we both line up. The light goes green they take off and I just sit there. They run a 14.5, then I take off and run a 13.8. They've beaten my by the whole 1/4 mile yet I still got a better time than them. But the point is it's hard to judge car lengths in relationship to tenths of a second in the quarter mile. I raced a 93 vette when my car was stock and I ran a 14.5 and he ran a 13.5 and he beat me by about 10 cars which would hold to the fact that one tenth of a second=one car length. But then again I saw my friend run a 12.0 in his mustang and lose by only a car to another mustang running an 11.5 and their reaction times were almost dead even.
