what comes to your mind when you hear the word 'import'
Body kits, ugly rims, clear taillights, 6" exhaust tip, Honda civic, tacky interior with racing mods, Mid 16 second timeslip

Honestly, when I first hear it, I associate Neons, Civics and the such putting all that crap on and revving at me. But once I start thinking about it an import is a nice car, like TT Supra and the such. All the other crap cars are rice.I don't really associate Porsches and cars like that as imports though for some reason. They're just bad cars.

I think ricers also. But I also thing about thinks like skylines and supras. I don't see how you say porshces are imports, there are exotic cars.

Let us not forget the textbook definition of "import". Heinekin is an import. So are Schwinn's. -Randy

When I hear 'import' I think of a Honda Civic. I also think of the Honda dealer where my mom bought her C-RV. I dont think of Porsches or BMW's, because they are more of exotic cars.

I hear ya 82FireBird- I had my ElCamino 10 months before I could drive it. I cut school on the day of the road test, and then drove circles around the school until they let the kids out! - Randy

To my knowledge, aftermarket stereo's, speakers, sub-woofers, and amplifiers will NOT make your car faster. As much as I have become attached to my thirdgen, it was only bought out of nescessity after my 1981 ElCamino SS was totaled in a rear-end collision. After nearly two years, I have yet to see a dime from the insurance company. RIP Elky (1981-2000)

I think of people who concern themselves more with how much light and sound their car can emit rather than how fast it actually can go.

And the Camaro said to the Civic "Now, I know what you're thinking...in all of that mess, did he have 8 cylinders, or only 6? You just gotta ask yourself one question...do you feel lucky? Well do ya....punk???

I think of the civic hatchback I looked at a couple weeks ago that had a 2.2 litre vtec engine from a prelude, a turbo, a digital fuel curve adjustment thing in the dash under the radio, a fat intercooler, custom gauges, a subtle body kit, no fat wing, nice rims, tint, mellow exhaust, it was really nice. Definitely not rice. Dude did it all himself and I can respect that. In a lot of cases import guys just want the same thing we do. they want to go fast in a car they are proud of. True there are punks who have no power and think they are the **** because their engine produces more hp per litre that our pushrod v8's do, but if you actually get out to the races you start to see that theres more to it than rims and a fat stereo.
but $16000 into a civic for high 12's?
Give me $16000 and i'll put my tirdgen in a low orbit.

Imports: Foreign cars, but in racing terminology... fast foreign cars that were made to be fast and are. Rice: Japanese cars, or asian cars for that matter. But now rice has derived a new look, not just japanese, but a car that was made slow, and is suped up, stickered, bodykitted, neoned, big rimmed, loud systemed, etc, till no end to try to be fast, but still slow. Even a Cavalier, with the wrong owner can turn it into rice. Examples, Import: Ferrari, Porshe, Lamborgini, etc. Rice: Civic, MX-3, Geo Storm, etc. But remember Rice minus being suped up, stickered, bodykitted, neoned, big rimmed, loud systemed, etc, is called a Commuter car. However I would still rather not buy those cars, even if I bought a car to commute, I would want one that actually moved.

Since the topic was already started, a while back some people posted some sites that bash rice that had a lot of pics. Does anyone remember the sites, I checked the archives with no luck.
