how the crap could a....

a few weeks ago i asked about a stock rsx not the type s and u guys told me that it could prob. beat me, but i was told that could prob. run 15's or better bone stock, i was on an rsx website jus browsin and there was a post about 1/4 times and there were type s's with exhaust, intake and stick shift, that were only runnin mid to low 15's i think the lowest was a 14.9 and it wasn't even an rsx it was a damn honda s2000(those look fast). can these guys jus not drive or what.

There's a whole lot more non-drivers out there than there are drivers. I'd imagine 98% of the guys on these kind of boards will never get the kind of time out of their car that they should be getting just because of lack of driving skill, myself included.

With an engine like the RSX has, the driver can make a huge difference. When your hp peak is at like 6000rpm, your engine makes no torque, and the car has a 6 speed, it isnt exactly easy to launch. Most of the people who drive those things are punk kids who cant drive well anyway. I think the optimal launch rpm would be somewhere in the 5000rpm range. I'm not talking bad about the car, just the people who obviously cant drive them.

peace

well, speaking of an rsx (not the type s) it is true that the driver makes the race (especially on a 5 spd) the regular rsx is only rated at 160 hp, but since it has the new 2.0 liter, it has a little more grunt than the old 1.8...its still no stump puller though.
based on the sig of your car, i would say that the rsx would win, even if it wasn't a type s. this is provided that the driver knows how to drive (on honda's you need to do some ragging on it to find the sweet spot, and you also need to find where the rev-limiter is-usually hidden just past the red line - my civic red lines at 7000 rpm, but the limiter doesn't kick in till 7200. you need to shift as close to this point as possible) this is the whole point of vtec, get normal profiling down low (meaning very little power, but good mpg) but more aggressive profiling up top for better breathing.
the best part of it is when you can hear the difference in the drone of the engine, very subtle, but cool!

Also you have to remember that all of these cars are BRAND NEW.. most of the runs are done with less than 2000 miles on the engine.. Engine performance increases up to about 10000 miles.. I've seen Integra GSR's drop 4 tenths just because they weren't all the way broken in yet... The type-s's are running 14.3 with I/E... Thats pretty darn quick.. I haven't run mine yet (only had it 2 weeks) but I can tell a HUGE difference in the power of this vs. My firebird... And most of the times on the internet arn't altitude corrected either...

I can't speak for the base, but the Type-S is fast for what it is.. A sporty-luxury coupe.. I had the choice between any car for under $26,000 and thats what I got.. It felt the best, had good power, had good potential, had the best features, and it will last a long time and have a high resale value... Kinda sad, I wish i wouldn't have test drove the new SS. It felt like a huge boat.. The interior felt outdated and cheap, and all it really was, was a great motor that went fast in a straight line..

Also, 85transamtpi:

The base RSX doesn't come with a 6 speed, only the type-s.. The base can only come in the 5 speed manual, or 5 speed sportshift auto...

I still think that the extra 900 lbs on the camaro and the gearing of the RSX would be the deciding factor in that race.. RSX by a good distance...

s2000

My cousin has an 2000 honda S2000 base model and trust me it can take my car easy. The car has 260 hp and less than 3000 pounds( aluminum block! ). Plus it has a limited slpi differential which prevents the wheels from spinning on take off. This is one fast car.
