Re: 86 z28 vs stock ls1
just run it and find out. Dont talk crap to the LS1 beforehand that way if you lose you wont looks stupd. Dont be afraid to race and find out. Do it at the track so its fair and safe. I dont understand why everyone has to get reasurance that they will win before they even try. Just go have fun and dont be an ***...

Don't listen to that douche man!!! Yes you got a good chance of winning, 450 hp is good enough to take down a LS1!!!

Re: 86 z28 vs stock ls1
You will win, IF, the motor is tuned right. If its not tuned right at all, you might only make half the power you should. When I first put my car together, I couldnt even spin the tires. Now it has no problems spinning them up to 40 mph. The tune can make all the difference. I would spend a little time tunning it first. If its too lean or way too rich you can wreck your new motor also. Or if the timing is way off.

ls1 car is gonna win.
Your lack of experience is gonna hurt you, even if your motor is more powerful.
You dont even know how to drive the car you built yet.
Dont see, how u can go lose cash. Ur money. a lid, catback, and tune if he has one is gonna give you a run for money literally. The guy prolly has alot of exp. Driving his car and racing it
sounds to me like your build just increased by another 200$.
Still though, u got a good chance of winning. GL

With Big Hammer
Either a smaller cam or larger head would work good.
Spend your $200 and get it tuned and curved to perfection if you cant.
Then go run.
Youll have plenty of tq advantage on him but those LS1s breathe well up top yours wont. Again, tune it well if you can get it to leave should be a good race.

Re: 86 z28 vs stock ls1
If you can drive the car then you shouldn't have any problem taking down a near stock LS-1. But its all bench racing until the cars are lined up. Good luck.

thanx guys well we raced and from a dig i can't get the car to stop spinning so he's gone everytime its like I'll roll out of the hole and then give it a little gas and it still fishtails to the right......but from a 40roll to about 100 or so i got 3 quarters of a car but but i got afraid of the car because the suspension sways back and forth so i let off but honestly i gotta get familiar with the car and i Dnt know if its true but car behind us said even on a 40roll the tires still spin a little....

Re: 86 z28 vs stock ls1
Well like I said, If you can drive the car you should outrun him... My car has radials on it and I have to really peddle it off the line. If a buddy drives my car it will blow the tires off because he doesn't know the car, You will learn to launch your car better the more you drive it. Congrats on the win.

Re: 86 z28 vs stock ls1
You need to heat the tires up good then leave.
Track is the best place to get it to hook good.
No way at 40 with a D.R. it should be breaking them loose
Whats your tire pressure (re the swaying)

A stock LS1? 300-350Hp is enough to take it down a LS1. I run 13.3-13.50's for the most part and give any Stock LS1 equipted Camaro/TA a run for its $$ every time. (I would guess I have arround 300Hp) Modded LS1's are a little dif. But still no better way to find out then to race them.

Re: 86 z28 vs stock ls1
Awsome win!
Im at 18psi for a drag radial. Thats just the perfect combo for me so I dont light them up or dead hook and bog the car. Everyone launches different but start arround 18-20 then if you spin keep taking it out .5-1psi at a time till you get it where you want. Track temp/quality plays a big roll too.
If your at the track always check temp about 2-5 min before you run. A 1/2 psi + or - will make a difference when your looking to dead hook or spin just for a split second if you have small gears.
I know I don't have nearly as much Tq as you guys have, but I have a open rear and leave with boost already spooling. 1.90's 60ft time and never have I spun the tires at all since I got the burnout routine down pat. The key is avoid the water box, then back into it spin the tires a little to clean them off then do your burnout and make sure it hooks at the end of the burnout box. I had problems earlier this year with hooking because I would drag water up with my front tires, so that after the good burnout, the slick would get wet from the front tires draging up water. Doesnt take much water to have problems.
Just my 2 cents.
