Oh, I don't know, man. If he's driving that thing in the winter, the rust has probably given him some radical weight reduction.

Well there's 10 minutes of my life i can't get back, lol. On a serious note, maybe it was an lg4 car? Not defending the op, just throwing out the fact a 2.77 geared lg4 car could probably be beaten by a 3 cylinder geo 😂

Re: Now I remember why we sold the IROC
what was the point of this thread? to make fun of a 30+ year old car for not keeping up with a new suv? a 3.6 grand cherokee is a 16 second ride, no? a stock iroc in decent running order should hang with it at the very least i would think. was it actually an iroc or a badged up v6? besides all that, it was still a questionable condition antique car racing a brand new suv at "half throttle".
OP actually seems to share some similarities to the guy in the iroc trying to show off by making a thread about the victory. lol

Third gen owners need to quit defending a relic. They were limited in performance and without some big money, they were never fast or that great at handling. If they were so great, why does everyone want to modify them? LS, manual, suspension, etc. The technology wasn't even good for the time. There were several 4 and 6 cyl's. that put a hurting on the 5.7 TPI.
It's just comical that all these owners, think their car is untouchable.
Did I make the post to bash on third gens? No... I own an extensive collection of them, in all trims, both the Camaro and the Firebird. I also have a few fourth gens.
The post was to point out the dumba$$ owners that give the third gens their ****** reputation. They watch these programs and think they are race car drivers, builders, engineers, and so on.
If you are offended by this, you are probably one of the dumba$$es. For the rest, you've probably built, restored, or created something worthy of bragging about.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Re: Now I remember why we sold the IROC
i havent seen a 3rd gen on the road in at least 6 months. there isnt enough of them on the road to even create a stereotype of owners that think their thirdgen is fast.
To say they were never fast is stupid, as they were some of the fastest cars at the time.
post up a list of all the domestic 4 and 6cyl cars that would destroy a tpi iroc in 1987. i can think of 1 6 cyl car off the top of my head.
people modify these cars with newer technology. as stated before, its a 30 year old car.
my car is in my avatar. post up your fleet of 3rd and 4th gens.

Re: Now I remember why we sold the IROC
The later third gens were definitely quick cars with notable handling. TPI cars w/ WS6 suspension were great at the time. 220-245hp depending on year/engine/trans.
Nothing from the early 80s really holds a candle to performance today. That isn't an apt comparison.
Go back to ~1991 and look at the competition. Sure, Japan is already a decade ahead by that time, but in the domestic market third gens weren't a slouch.

Re: Now I remember why we sold the IROC
So this guy is just here to bash thirdgens on a thirdgen forum.
Yes, they were slow, but here in the 21st century, there are go-fast parts, and LS engine swaps that can make them hang with any modern car. Oh, and they were THE best handling production car in the WORLD in the 1980s, and still respectable today. Bashing them for how slow they are is ludicrous since ANYTHING can be made fast. There are riding lawn mowers that do 160mph. Either you like a car or you don't, and since the O.P. doesn't like thirdgens, he should GO AWAY. Find a Grand Cherokee forum or something...

Again.... WRONG. You are comical though.
Just admit that you fit the m*ll*t category. Upgrade your status...
I just realized the site blocks the "M" word. This must be because it doesn't want to confirm what the world already believes.
