Roasted an Eclipse GT tonight

I was coming back from a chevy dealership after looking at a 91' Vette for my younger brother, when a brand new Eclipse GT pulled up to me at a red light. It was tinted and the punk kid owner kept giving me dirty looks from behind his half rolled up window. The light turned green and i just went normally, and was slightly ahead of him. Well, after he saw me driving sanely, he decided he wanted to race me. I saw him grinning as he passed me at about 30mph. I let him get about 4 lengths ahead and mashed the gas pedal. Within seconds i passed him as my brother in the passenger seat waved bye to the c**ksucker. I hit 100, and decided that was enough, and as i slowed down i got the import fly by. No blinkers, however, so i guess he knew he was beat. Got to let these ricers know whats up. What was he thinking anyway? An Eclipse beating a Vette. Boy.

Wish I could brag here about an eclypse kill, but I only have the 3.1, yet I work at a chevy lot, I've driven the 2002 vette, nice kill and classy at that, wish I could have seen that, oh well there will be a day when I'll be able to boast until then I suppose I'll read about the kills and laugh, nice post

I believe the new bodied Eclipse's no longer come with a turbo option. They replaced the 2.0L turbo with a 6 cylinder. I think the horsepower ad quarter mile times are about the same, though. Even if it was a turbo 4cyl, i still would have killed him. hes just lucky i didnt race him from a standstill. he would have been completely humiliated.

There's a 2001 V6 Eclipse GT parked next to my 90 IrocZ 5.7L out in the garage right now. The Eclipse has 200 hp, but it's a fairly heavy car, plus the gearing for 2nd gear is terrible. The only way to get around it is to use the "tiptronic"-like shift and wind 1st a little past it's usefulness. It'll cruise at 90 mph on the highway all day, though. Definately not a drag racer (stock at least.)

stock them vs mod you yes
but problem with those turbo motors is they are way to easy to mod

you put as many mods on his car as you have and would be a good race

though that is with the early cars
the new ones are heavy from what I understand

did you read my sig? i only have a cat back exhaust (that is stock diameter, its just mandrel bent), and a open filter lid with a K&N. And i bumped my fuel pressure by 2 psi. Turbo Eclipse's run high 14s, so, your telling me that with the above stuff, theyre gonna knock off about a sec and a half? I dont believe that.

hehe
oops.. read way too many threads at one time
ended up reading another persons thread and thinking it was your mods

sorry man

but with a catback and boost controller to up the boost they can gain quite a bit of power

still though dont care much for mitsu cars unless it is the 3kGT VR-4

just damn turbo cars are way too easy to mod

though yeah if they just put a catback and filter on you would take them
