98 3.8 maro vs 89 305 (Another Board votes V6)
Im am just curious to see what you guys think, I am a V6 owner. I used to have a 92 3.1 'maro (totalled) now owner of 99 3.8 bird. I respect the V8's cause some can sure hall ***, but I was suprised to see this on another board.

I think at best you there will be a tie. I don't see a stock RS going faster than 15.5 at it's best. The newer 4th Gen 6cyl are good for mid 15's right. I say it comes down to the driver and condition of the cars.
Sorry, meant at best the RS will tie with you.

I can put a hurtin my friends 96 all day (in sig), but its not a 98. and I'm sure you are a better driver. from what I've seen mid 15s for a v6 4th gen is generous, but maybe I haven't seen the right cars.
I've seen nothing higher than a 15.3 out of a 3.8. My friend has simple exhaust on his 2002 and is running 14.6's.
And no, I'm not lying, I saw the run, and he has the timeslip to prove him......and I'm being generous calling him my friend anyways...i hate the *****.

must be something in the air around here cause where I live the v6s aren't crap (most are 93-97), I totally believe you guys, but I guess know one know how to drive them around here, I drove my friends 96 and it felt just a tad slower than mine, but I think thats cause the auto didn't give me the control I needed shifting.

I haven't looked at the url so I'll assume it's an RS like someone said above... the RS may get the '99 off the line, but it will slowly start to lose ground after the 60 foot I'd guess. Victory thusly would go to the '99.
However... An '89 305 TPI has about the same Hp as the 99 V6.... and it has a little more torque, so I'd hand the victory to the V8 if it had resonably low miles (~60k or less) and was in good tune.

the 93-95 V6s sucked, they were 160 horse 3.4s. Same family as the 2.8/3.1. 96 and newer 3800s have 200 hp and much more torque.
