my 89 305 tpi vs 3 gts & one lt1
i was at the local street racing hang out and race spot a little wile ago
i had just did my headers and taken out the cat and all the smog Sh*t and i was hunting for mustangs
i have the opertunity to race three that night and i wiped all 3 of there asses
not to mention i had a huge header leak out of the #8 cylinder and they were 5 speed and im auto
they were all gts and all had intake and exhaust
i took them from rolles and i took them off the line also i must say i was very happy with my little red beast and i also had my friend in the car (he has a 98 black ram air 6 speed ta....very nice)they were all cring to say the lest and then i tell them its a 305 HAHAHA
i was happy with that then i saw my next race a 96 or a 97 lt1 camaro with 6 speed and exhaust and intake
i was going to race him for fun not thinking i was going to win but sure enof i had him off the line and the hole race and we raced till the next red light and about 60mph i was amased to say the least and then i race from a roll and took him again it was amasing

Nice kills. If those Mustangs were fox bodies, they must not have known how to drive. With gears, intake and exhaust they should be low to mid 14s. The LT1 should also be in the low 14s to high 13s. That just proves that street racing is completely different from the track!

I actually run better on the street than i do at the track. I get better traction off the line in the street than i do at the starting line at New England Dragway.

A 96-97 LT1 with exhaust and intake will blow your doors off. At least a full second faster than a 14.8xx in the 1/4 mile.
Stock they run 13.9-14.1's.
Sorry man I don't buy that you beat a modded one. Maybe a stocker with a bad driver.

win is a win even if the people driving the other cars cant drive
alot of the time it is the driver
i know my car very well
i could not beleave that i beat the lt1 neather but i did twice no less!!
the mustangs were nice to beat alsobut not as big of a suprise
just to show you how slow they can be i saw a lx 5.0 with stick and exhaust run consisten 16's at the track
my friend has a mustang 88 with a 95 cobra motor and he kicks my *** all over the place and he has exhaust but stock 2.73 gears but i have betten him a couple of times ( when he has missed 2ed gear)
but my other friend with the 98 ram air tares him a new ******* ever time they race
kust nice to see he is gettting his from a t/a
its real funny my friend with the 88 mustang use to have the exact car as me but an 86 his 305 was quick but he sold it for a mustang
me and my friend with the ram air bust his ball about his mustang every day

the only way your car will beat a lt1 is if the driver really sucks *** or he doesn't try to race or maybe be smoked the tires and was trying to be nice and let you win..
i've read all of your stories and find them all hard to believe sorry man

as for you guys not beleaving me when i say i beat a 97 lt1 camaro shut the hell up because you were noth there at any of these races and you dont know all the conditions and you dont know if the guy i was racing was a total ******* or not
all that matters in these situations is that i won
nomatter how or why i won
I WON and the only reason imtelling these storyes to you is to get another perspective on it
i dont know why you think i would lie, im just a thirdgen owner like yourselves (except for the few mustang owners here, the reason they are on this board i have know clue?)

Maybe your stories would come off a little better if you could spell. I'm with the other guys, no way you could beat an LT1.

Hey us Mustang guys are here for many reasons and we have been getting respect. We don't come on here and claim we beat 13 second cars with our high 14 second car. We respect you guys and you respect us.

Im new here people so please take it easy on me I would just like to add a little somthing to this topic.
This story is no B.S. When I first bought my 73 formula in 97 it had 80,000 miles on it, The motor was a stock 4bbl 400 with the good intake NOT the later low rise smogger and 2.11 and 1.66 valves backed by a th400 and 3.55 gears in the rear ,the only mods were a worked q- jet a shift kit and the factory duals
(pontiac had dual exhaust till 74)were replaced with 2.5" duals with an h pipe and glass packs, anyway the only MAJOR kills I had with this combo before i started installing my 455 was a stock 5.0 and one lt1. The lt1 was a 95 or 96 and I raced him from one stop light to another and beat him by at least a car length .I dont know that a 305 could beat an lt1, but I think that with enough mods anything is possible or it could be bs, It toke a carbed big block for me to beat a late t/a but I think its still possible to get a 305 to do it with the right equipment.

stop spending money on your car and buy phonics! then maybe we'll believe you. any of those cars should be able to spank you even if you did get them out of the hole they would come flying past you by third gear.

hey i can believe that u beat that LT1 off the start, cuz at the strip i raced a LS1 camaro SS and i beat him off the start but as matt87 predicted.....the guy came flyin past me like a bat outta he** when i was ABOUT half way through 2nd....lol.....and the same happened when i raced a LT1 6-speed formula at the strip the next time i was there......but i talked to the guy afterward and he said that he couldnt get any traction in 1st 2nd or 3rd gears......i have a pic of the LS1 race.....but my friends took it right BEFORE the green light instead of right after like i asked him

Matt,
At the track I had a 2002 ZO6 up until my 1-2 shift due to the guy falling asleep at the tree and spinning the tires but after that he put some buslengths on me. So I can beleive being ahead at the start but eventually you will get pulled on unless the guy can't drive at all.

you dont have to believe me but i did this to test from my self if it was a one time thing beating an lt1 z28 well i was out with my girl tonight and i was about to bring her home when guess what an lt1 z28 pulls along side me and im in third and we both hit it and i hold him then we both stop at a light
he asked me if i had stick and i said no
at the next red light i we both knew it was on
he was auto and had an 80series flow i could see it im not sure if it was the full exhaust
any way so the light turns green and he get the jump on me but not for long
through the first to gears he was about a half a car a head of me then when i hit third i was gone
i was beating him by a car at about 100mph them we both slamed on the brakes for the red light
he just said bye and rolled up his window and drove off
i wanted to talk and see what he had done but he keeped tring to avoid me
his friend was giving him a really hard time considering befor we raced i told them i only had a 305 HAHAHA
you dont have to believe me but i know the truth and let me say what already all of you guys sould know

I'm not trying to argue, but at least around here, LT1 cars never break out of the 14s stock. Not that I've seen at least. But, keep in mind, thats in my area and likely its different where you are. A guy i know, who just sold this car BTW, with a cat back in his auto 96 T/A was running 14.7s and he can drive. And i've watched him race a car just like his, but with the ram air and its a 97, on the street, and they were dead even. Another guy in his 6 speed LT1 convert. was also running in the 14.7 range with no mods, other than straight pipes. It just seems to me that LT1s aren't very consistent from one car to another. (Yeah and driver makes a diff too of course)

Hey jerflash, i totally believe you. I have raced with 94 Trans AM 6 spd twice. Once from the rolling start and then from the dead stop. (to about 65 mph) Both of us had a passanger in the car. We were dead even. Man i tell you the guys in the Trans Am were ever embarassed.
I never told them i had a 305, if i did then they really would be embarassed.
I have raced many other cars too. So far it looks pretty good for a small bore 305 or should i say Big ***** 305.
More mods coming soon.

14.7 out of an LT1 TA, that's horrible, especially with a better flowing exhaust. Something must have been out of tune on that car.

I don't know if this guy is bs'ing or not, but let me tell you about my friend's '96 LT1 M6 TA.
He bought it and took it to the track the next week without doing any tuneup/maintenance (other than an oil change) this was the late summer/early fall of 2000. The best runs he could get out of it (and I could get out) was 14.9s at 97.XXx mph. He switched gears to 4.10s, put a cold air package, 58 MM TB, and a Granettelli MAF on it and could only get to 14.2s at 100.xxx mph.
We were really puzzled as to why this car was this slow. Well the whole time we were messing with it , the car had a slight miss. We changed plugs and injectors to no avail, and were getting ready to look at the OPTI Crap, when the fuel pump died. Put in a new fuel pump and the next time he went to the track, he ran 13.5s and 13.6s at 103.xxx and 102.xxx. We figure the fuel pump was costing him at least .5 from the origional purchase condition. So any car can be beaten on the street if it is really out of tune(as some of you have said).
Sparks a flyin'

I could see one or two, but here he says 3 GTs, a few LT1s (look in sig) and a TT RX7. If all of those cars were out of tune, I will move to where he lives and make some good money street racing.

I own a high 14 second 305tpi car, Ive raced many cars on the street with it.
But I wont believe a D@MN thing this dude says until I see it myself (tape your races if you want us to stop calling BS).
Until then,
