Killed an LS1 last night.

I ran a 2001 Z28 M6 last night and won. He is a friend of mine but I couldn't cut him any slack. His car has an SLP catback, LS1 MOTORSPORTS lid,K&N,and a Pro 5.0 shifter running a 12.9@109. I probably got him by about 1 1/2 to 2 cars. It was recorded(by JAYDUBB) and I haven't seen it yet so I don't know exactly how how bad I beat him. But I'll try and post the video or link it for you all to see.

I really don't think I would come close with out the juice, probably would have beat me by 2 cars. But in a street race anything goes.

i can't wait till it get's hot outside

Good show....

My LS1 kills, both at the track:

1998 Corvette Coupe
2000 Camaro SS

Last Friday at the track, Synapsis and I were approaching the end of the lines in the staging area. Immediately in front of me was a C5. So I asked Synapsis if we could swap sides, which he was willing to do. I did this so I could line up agained the C5. As soon as we did this, the C5 reversed out of his lane and pulled in behind me!! Bummer...

(For some odd reason, no other LS1's want to run me....hehe!!)

The LS1 barked second. He likes to rip those gears. While me on the other hand have the lovely automatic. It shifts firm but not too hard, just right.

Is a supercharger cheating? turbo? or what about headers? Anything that adds performance gains is fair in a street or strip race. Sometimes people say don't use your nitrous, and should we say dont use your turbo, or don't use your intake??

AMEN!!! Preach it brother. supercharger, turbocharger, nitrous all do the exact same thing. get more oxygen into the cylinders. 2 do it by force and one does it chemically.
i hate it when my GN buddy talks about how nitrous is cheating. so i always like to say "well take that turbo off and see how you do"
i don't use nitrous and more than likely won't because its harder to tune properly but i don't think its cheating.

i would b happy to be able to beat a LS1 with nitrous......but i would b even happier to beat him with straight motor.....i gotta friend with a TURBO probe and he's bout a mid 16 car and he's gettin a 35dalla boost controller that will turn up the boost to like 11 or 12 psi.....and he says it will make him run high 14's........all i say is....yah well what can your motor do without that turbo.......if anyone knows what i could unplug so the turbo wouldnt work....please tell me....i will do it at the next time he street races........maybe even one with chicks around and stuff....

i understand where you are coming from. but when you max it out and you want more sometimes your only option is forced induction
Bragging rights do go to the person who can run just as fast or faster with a N/A car than a forced/chemically enhanced vehical

You know........I'm usually the one being filmed out at the illegals and I do a lot of stupid stuff.......but I must say that the road they raced on was WAY too narrow and had way too many side streets and parked cars!! But that said, cool race.

Disconnect any hose in between the turbo and the intake , while obvious, its esay and effective. Also easy to fix. If you have more time get at the boost controller, and crank it down to 0 boost (should be open to atmosphere it think)

Sorry to tell you guys but in the real world anything goes. If you want to go N/A than so be it. And if you like power adders thats good to. But you can take a N/A car so far and keep it streetable not to mention legal. So why not boost it or spray it? I'm in the process of building up my engine so I can run fast N/A but I'm gonna run the n2o on top also.

well right now im kinda cool with him....but if he does **** me off i will do it .........but its crazy....cuz when its wet out....my car can spin the tires like a mother.....and i told him to spin his somtime cuz its really easy to do in rain....and he tried and it did NOTHING...it just took off like a slug.....but then around 20 or so when the turbo kicked in that thing spun the tires for about 15 feet......just goes to show u what he will do without that TuRbO!!

and just a little side note.....i just got my car runing good again...and i came out of a parking lot today with him and another friend in my car and i floored it and kicked it sideways.......i was like "yah lets see the probe do that.....thats V8 power for ya!!!"......

what about people with a boost guage? its the same thing, you can turn it down or turn it up. just a variable button
so a true roots type blower would be the only one that is actually part of the engine

Hey Matt...

If you disconnect his wastegate hose either the ECM will shut the car down (and make is ride like a bucking horse) or his engine with BLOW UP (no boost referenceto the wastegate = unlimited boost).

Now... you could disconnect the rod at the wastegate. All the exhaust will IMMEDIATELY push the flapper valve open, causing the car to make NO BOOST.

Just my .02 !

I raced a 4th gen a few days ago, but i didn't get a chance to see if it was a 6 or a 8.

From the light i took off and just as we got across the highway a idiot in a SUV was making a uturn and i had to floor it and get infront of the car before i hit the numnutz in front of me.

I wish my car could grip on takeoff like that.

Please guys you sound retarded sometimes, MOst turbo/supercharged motors are built with that in mind, thus they are usually LOW compression motors with small valves and small cubes.

I get so tired of hearing take off the turbo and lets see, well hell rebuild your engine to have lower compression and smaller valves and less cubes....... you see, these types of arguments are dumb.

If you like N/A great they are easier to take care of and less likely to break, theres alot of maintenance issues that come with turbos and Superchargers and with those, turning up the boost is then harder on parts and more likely to break something as well as requiring higher octane fuels(race gas$$$$)

A RACE IS A RACE, as someone already said, RUN WHAT YA BRUNG, HOPE YOU BRUNG ENOUGH!!!

IF YOU CANT PARTY WITH THE BIG DOGS, STAY ON THE PORCH!!!

ok off my soapbox!!

shrp1 is 100% right. If you complain about losing a race because the other guy had a turbo or nitrous, you sound like a *****. Leave the excuses to them, if you lose take it like a man, and put more mods on your car. And if you keep complaining then stop racing.

For you guys having trouble viewing file...

This is for you guys that either cant view the video, or just want a clearer version of this race. It 4.5MB long, so happy downloading. Oh, if you're on dial up, you might want to play a quick game of solitaire while u wait...

Awesome race!!

Where are you guys running? I live near Laurel, not that far away. I know another guy with a 70's 400 sbc firebird that would like to run.

How many people you have show up and race?
