drove a WRX today
one of my friends got one and he let me drive it. i have to say that i love the car. its got an upgraded suspension so it feels just as firm as a camaro. i have to say that it impressed me. he took off and i actually got a woozy feeling in my head. it feels faster riding than it does driving it though. when i drove it i could tell that it wouldn't beat my iroc but its really not that far behind. i think a 14.5 should be easy to get outta it. a 14.3 isn't impossible either. i wouldn't give up my camaro for one but i really want a wrx for a daily driver/winter car
i think he's gonna go to the track with me in a few weeks so we'll see what it can do.
but the things i liked best were the clutch. you barely have to move the pedal to shift and its so light. also the shifter, he's got an upgraded shifter with shorter throws and man its great, powershifting was a breeze. i nailed a 2-3 powershift on my first try.

Andrew, who was it? I want to take one out
I took my granmothers GTP out and beat a WRX (I think he missed a gear), I like the GTP better but the WRX has a scary 0-60 time and another guy in Denver has a 13 second WRX but it has a "few" mods.

hey dude. about your sig. I am not sure about the T5 thing is that a standard or an auto?
next question do you think a 5 speed 305tpi firebird formula with a rebuilt motor and 3 inch exhaust pipes and a flowtech muffler without headers could run 15.2 or better?
Also how is it that headers and y pipe shaved off a second. It is not that i don't believe you but did you acidentily leave something out? or maybe spin tires on the stock run.

As for your second question yoes you can do it, I have seen 12 second 305's but I will let andrew take it from here and he will have some good info,
Andrew I had a woozy feeling when you took me home that one time I LOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS

my car went 15.20 with 115000 miles and just no cat so yes you can do better.
the headers and y-pipe helped me because i was able to launch better. i used to bog really bad on the launch (2.4 60fts with no spin) then when i got the headers i was able to launch (2.2 60fts with a little spin) i did do a good tune up and messed with the timing but nothing major. most of it was from me learning to drive the car and being able to launch. it wouldn't have been that much of a difference if i had better gears but i only have 3.08 gears
soon to be 3.73 when i get some money. my sig is kinda misleading because i also haven't ran my car with the siamesed intake i just forgot to put it down.David,
i should be in the 13's but i haven't been to the track yet. and the kids name is Isaac

If I'm not mistaken, the T5 is a Borg Warner tranny... Along with the T10 (4spd)? Does anybody know? I thought Tremec only beefed up T5's and the such.

I'll agree, that would be a kickin daily/winter car. Actually those are way faster than my freakin Camaro, but it won't stay that way forever. Just gotta keep savin the $$ and someday it'll happen.

Who cares about the damn tranny? Talk about moving off topic
The WRX Subaru is a mean machine, low 13's are easy in the less restricted UK models. The killer is the 4WD, but the 286 bhp also helps LOL. Do you guys have the Mitsubishi EVO's out there too? They had a Tommi Makkinen version (basically rally spec) up at the track last Sunday- was hittling 13 dead.
Those cars have rewritten the term 'Supercar' as you can fit 5 people in it with room in the boot (or trunk

T-5 is a tremec trans, i think they were bought by borg warner, and that is why the T56 is a BW unit, it is also much, much stronger than the T5. Also, all 4th gens can have T56s, as well as the C5 and Viper (different versions, I don't think any are interchangable.).
ZZ42Fast, nope, no evo here. I have heard rumblings of them wanting to bring it here, they don't want the WRX to have all the fun now, do they? We also only have 227hp in our WRXs, and I think that they're measured differently, so that 286hp over there is closer to 300hp here. Can't wait till i can get back to the UK and rent a car, last time I went back i was too young to drive (21 now

man think of that AWD with an LS1 mmmmmmm
i mean they pull 1.8-2.0 60 fts with 4 cylinder turbos that are pretty much stock. and do it on stock tires. that would be cool if they brought the camaro back as an AWD version. i could even handle a v6 version of the LS1 as long as it had a turbo on it.

we have EVO's
actually we do have mitsu EVO's but if you know about the rally version Mitsu. Lancer EVO then you'll cry when you see them. whereas a WRX is almost track ready, a US market Mitsu EVO is like taking a jar of jellybeans, taking out all the good ones, and calling all those crappy ones a "gourmet treat" =)

more than just the exterior has been chopped/stripped

the t- 10 is a Borg warner model from the 60's /70's, and was made to compete with the Muncie tranny. the t-5 is also a borg warner model... The t 56 is similar to the t-5 and could be considered a "better" version in the likes that a 4L60-E and 4L60 r just a better or revised version of the 700r4. as for it being a tremec.. i do not believe so..sorry. I had a few of these t-5 trannys.. all stamped with the Borg Warner logo and name all over them..so unless tremec is a division of Borg Warner (and i do NOT beleive that is the case) or there was some weird coop going on the t-5 is a Borg Warner Unit````````

BTW that first link wouldn't work for me.
Steve
I work at a chevy dealership and rebuild a t-56 just last week(cust asked for me and my mentor, i'm still learning : )) anyway the T-56 has a BOrg Warner sticker on it but it also has TREMEC cast into the side of the case, from my understanding BG bought TREMEC or somthin like that anyway they are now one and the same(but still keep different names) also a T-5 is still available with the V-6 camaros and the T-56 on the LS1s. Just some info.

I heard they were buuilding a prototype Jcar with AWD like the WRX. Jcar's are cav's and sunfires. You hear stuff working at the worlds largest automotive supplier.
