You can slam all you want, my car drives in winter :-(
Post your tire horror stories or praises.
As far as tires go, I use BFG G-Force 245/50 ZR16 for summer on 16x8 IROC-Z rims. I'm still evaluating them though but so far a lot better than the Good Year Eagle Tires I had there. I managed to get a deal on them too $199 each.
For winter (may only apply to some or just me lol) I use BFG Winter Slalom's on 15x7 American Racing rims. Who says you can't look good in winter? Only $105 balanced, installed, tax included.
I live by the Winter Slalom tires though... you'll find me in the blue camaro during winter storms that litteraly slaloms b/w all the cars that can't move on the 401. I swear they're an engineering marvel. Have no prob with control, stopping or going. Actually back in Feb '02 during 1 of the rare snowfall's we had I was the only car moving past 40 clicks on the 401. It's mostly driver skill in those conditions, but the tires really help. I just think its kinda odd that people forget how to drive in winter.
I made the mistake of putting on Goodyear Eagles on my 15x7 rims a few years back, I still remember this day well. Was light rain, I was making a right turn on a slightly inclined turn about 20 degrees, I went halfway into the turn had to slow down cuz saw a car coming but since was far enough decided to go. Both tires couldn't grip and car slid backwards. All 4 wheels had hydroplaned on me.

I use Motomaster tires 2something/65 on front and 2something/75s for the back. These tires have done a good job during the winter. The Camaro is one tricky car to drive when you have all season tires on. But when that big big big snow storm hit and the highway wasent cleared and the road was all ice.
I drove home! from my work in Burlington all the way to Dundas on the highway. The car slid a few times but she did well and I got home.

"Because Motomaster works here!"

I have fond memories of heading for ditches, curbs and other places you don't want to be in your f-body while riding on Goodyear Gators. My first IROC came with gators and I slid my way through about 50kms. My '88 Formula came with gators and almost lost it on a number of occasions on these. Switched to GT4s and still slid around alot as soon as it got slick.
Don't use BF Goodrich cause they have a problem keeping round. Been there and spent about $1500 on that. Well now that Michelin owns them maybe they have gotten better ?
Tried Toyo proxes they are great when new but get hard fast, after about 20k. That cost me about $900 to find out. Guy I work with just got a set of Toyos and raves about them -- but then he was using Goodyears previously. I tried Dunlops and don't want to even talk about that experiment other than to say I paid money to have them removed.
Currently using Hankooks but these are cracking due to age and will have to be replaced. They have been on the car for about 4 years (previous owner never drove the car). Not much mileage on them. I like the look of the tire but am not impressed with the cracking rubber bit otherwise would have considered buying Hankooks.
Have to start shopping around for new tires. Drop another g-note that could have gone into headers instead. I hate tire shopping cause there is so much junk out there parading as quality rubber.

BFG's keeping round?!? Had mine car in winter storage with them twice and yet to have a problem with bald spots. How long ago was your experience with them and do you remember which type (Comp T/A's, Radial T/A's...)? A friend of mine said he had the same unroundness problem with the BFG's but this was like 10 years ago.

Thing is they would not give me a smooth ride and after changing out the rubber once it never got any better. The story the shop told me at the time was the tires had quality control issues and had trouble staying 'round' hence my rough ride. Had 'em shaved once as well that helped for awhile then they got rough again.
????????
I'd buy them again if I was sure I wouldn't have that problem again. Great tire for an f-body.
So far I am have been looking at the Kumho and the RE730. Leaning towards the Bridgestone... heard anything about these ?

I'm happy with the G-force set. Well worth it I believe. As far as ride is concerned, I think I made a bit of a sacrifice in going to 16 rims from 15. With the 15's my cheap *** cd player never skipped, now with the 16's it can. No biggy, it grips a whole lot better than anything I've ever known.
As far as goodyear is concerned, I have never had a good year with them on. I can't remember how many times I've had to count my blessings surviving with those on. The only thing I can attribute to those tires is I learned how to drive with them. Imagine driving a camaro as your learner car with those tires and imagine the type of driver you'd be after that and that's the only positive aspect I can imagine.
Dunlop's are what a friend of mine used on his car... all I can say is my car smokes his and handles better.
Never knew anyone that could afford Michelin tires... since we all driving thirdgen's I doubt anyone could or would lol.

palric: I couldn't let you get away with that comment without adding my 2 cents!
Well, the BFG's I have are the gForce and I have no complains about roundness, so it looks like the quality issue has been rectified. As far as the Kumho's go...these will most likely be the tires I try out next time...they are a cheap and good performance tire. I know of many who have them and have not complained as of yet. If cost is not an issue, then Firestone Firehawks have been proven by many to work very well in both wet and dry.
