Pics Of my new KYB's
Since my car was going to be out of action for a little while(waiting for a friend to weld up my Altenator Bracket), I decided to install the KYB Gr-2 struts I bought last April. I have been dreading this job because I had heard that it would be a pita.So I began soaking the bottom bolts with penatrating oil soon after I bought them.It turned out not to be as bad as I thought. I struggled with the passenger side upper strut bolt(stripped the nut) but the bottom bolts came right out.Everything is back together now and I'm patiently waiting for the altenator bracket so I can put this beast back on the road.

I think I can honestly say that I have had my share of seeing my car like that, it sucks. It gets better though, someday. Until something else goes wrong

Axle/Gears: Yup -- they still work
the springs ?
I haven't looked lately and have to do my struts as well -- they are 12 years old original factory units. Do we have to deal with the springs ? Once the strut is undone do the springs act up and make life difficult when installing the new stuff ?

On the last pic I posted you can see my floor jack just underneath the a arm, it supports this area and keeps the spring and everything else in place while you unbolt and remove the old struts and bolt in the new ones. I went nowhere near my springs. Start soaking the lower bolts /nuts and upper nut with penatrating oil before you do it. It'll make the job much easier.
