I dont know yet but we can discuss this after we see how much interest there is. We will probably go with what the majority wants. I am not making them one of the TFBm guys is I am just checking for him to see if people are interested.
I was planning on making some after I do my sub box top in fiberglass. But for a decent price I would definately buy em. You should mention to him to have an option of sellingh them with no holes cut. That way people can custom cut holes to component sets or 4x6s or 6.5s ets. Or if people want a neat look just paint them smooth. Just an idea I had when thinking about mine.

Okay, firstly, I'm not exactly an Ontario guy, but hey, one province off ain't too bad. I'm working on the design of the new version of pods, and I need YOUR input before going productive on these. Here's a few questions.
1. Are you more concerned in the pods looking identical left-right or would you want them to be set up for equal airspace and better imaging? Pretty is good, but for best imaging, the two sides just wouldn't end up much alike.
2. Would you like the speaker holders counter-sunk like Q-forms? That way, the speaker grille is flush with the surface of the pod. It would only work with given sizes, so there wouldn't be a "one size fits all" set. It would also definitely up the price, since that'd be quite a bit of work to engineer in.
3. Built in tweeter holders? That would mean a separate set of molds for coaxials and components. Unless you would just put a plug in the tweeter hole if not needed. That would allow for future upgrades, then...
4. What kinds of coverings? I'm working on a system to have the pods come out of the molds pre-primed and ready to go. I could sell them in primer, bare fiberglass, vinyl coated, or possibly painted with a basecoat/clearcoat system, as my cousin is a professional body/paint guy. Are there any other covering ideas out there?
5. Treated with spray on sound deadener? Or make it optional?
6. Do you want the main driver holes pre-cut or leave the panel solid and leave it up to you guys.
7. Would you be interested in other fiberglass audio products? I'm looking into a drop-in sub box for the spare tire hole. This will mimic the stock panel in every way, and can have a removeable cover over the sub to hide it. I also can build small tweeter holders to snap onto the a-pillars on the cars. Great if you want to keep your 4x6 plates and still get the imagin only seperate tweeters provide. I'll also give any other ideas a fair bit of thought. Thanks for all your support.
Pricing will depend entirely on complexity, features, coverings, etc., but I can say now that these WILL be LOWER priced than the others going right now. Not having to ship across the border will also cut costs. If this project is a go, I can set up an online order form on my web page. This will let you click on your options, and then automatically send me a copy of your order. I will let you guys know about payment options if/when this goes ahead. Thanks again

hey kevin its greg
1. Personally I would rather it pointing to me on the passenger side as well cause 75% of time I am in it I am alone on my commute. But if it was symetrical would that mean it would be aimed at the passenger? I could see some people wanting that and either way would be have ups and downs.
2. how much harder and more $ do you think it would be? It would be handy for looks and I could see myself banging anything that sticks out to much with my feet.
3 and 6. I think there should be 2 versions. One with holes cut for components (since thats what the majority of people would probably get and would sound the best) and one blank for custom set ups.
4. Cant speak for anyone else but bare fibreglass or primered is fine with me. Depending on the price I would buy it painted though. If you start selling in the states you should definately look into custom painting them cause thats something not offered anywhere.
5. I think it would be fairly easy and not to bad cost wise to spray them down. Also something no one else offers.
7. The tweeter idea would be good. Maybe if you could think some good spots, custom gauge mounts. Not a ton of nice spots to mount em IMO.

1. Since the F-car is not exactly a people-hauler, I usually assume that it's just the driver in there, with a chick or two (or three...) But for many people it's just them most of the time, so that's how the system should be set up. To get proper imaging and phase alignment, you have to have the speakers pointing directly at your ears, and each speaker should be the same distance away. Since that's nearly impossible in mobile audio applications, it comes down to minimizing the imbalanced distances left-right. That usually means mounting the driver's side a bit deeper towards the firewall and the passenger side a bit more shallow. Putting one speaker out of phase with the other helps sometimes also, due to the 1/2 wavelength delay effect on that speaker.
2. The tweeter holes are already counter-sunk, so that's no problems. But to do the mid driver hole, I would have to have the main hole go downward about 1/2 inch, and then have the lip fabricated there for attaching screws. It would also mean that the user would have to cut off any mounting tabs on the speaker. I smoked my pods a few times getting into the car, but soo learned not to.
3 & 6. It's looking that way to me, too.
4. I should mention as a sidenote that I have resin color agents available to me. That means I can tint the fiberglass resin so the whole thing is black through and through. It looks kida deadly if you ask me.
5. I have spray on sound deadner in great supply, so it would be a fairly cheap option if people want it. Also works great to cancel out any road noise coming from the metal behind them.
7. I liked it when I had them in. They snap right over the A pillars, and you don't have to drill. I can also rig some plugs to go between the speaker connection and the tweeter, so no wiring is needed.
DUDE, please tell me you have a full sized version of your avatar someplace!!!

Hey, now there's a real businessman. I'd also like to announce that the the kicks will be delayed by about a week or so. Tentative release date will be October 15. I came up with a new idea that will completely kick @$$, and I want to integrate it into the system.

What do I have to buy to meet her
On a serious note...I want set of those kick panels. Are you going to colour them for us or just prime them and we paint it. I'm thinking red or black. And yes I like the option of the tweeter. Maybe leave a casting there so that when ready we can cut out the hole and do the install.

Good to hear that these panels are gonna be in demand. For coloring, I have a few options for you. They can be primed/painted with or without clearcoat. Or, they can be vinyled and dyed. Lastly (and most cool, imo) is colored resins. I put a special tint into the resins before they coat the mold on initial setup. Then I add tint to all the resins used in the panel after that. The color is a whole lot "deeper" and can't be scratched off, since it IS the panel. A scratch will not really show up, either, because all that's under it is more color.
I'm going to leave provisions for a tweeter, with the option of me cutting them out or leaving them. Tentative release date for the panels (and launch of the web site and order forms) will be the 15th.
