9th injector delete!?

Anyone here have the 9th injector on thier pre 89 tpi removed??

I'm thinking of getting the slp runners for 89 and up but I have the 9 injector. Anybody here done this before or have a better way of explaining on how to do this. I tried the main board but it's not all that clear to me.

Before you tell me to buy the runners for my year wait...I'm getting these at a good price. Cheaper than to buy from slp.

Thanks guys in advance

P.S. I want to stay away from any prom related work!

i really dont know anything about TPI, but the 9th injector is for cold starts. do you drive the car in the winter? if not i am sure you could get away with removing it. i some people run carbs without any choke hardware.

I removed mine..brazed the fuel line shut, got the runner holes welded..If the runners are 89 then all you have to do is cut the fuel line to the injector and weld it shut and if you want it to be perfect change the PROM..I used mine for a almost 2 yrs with no noticable problems..it idles better now though..

Thanks guys!

Daz - the new runners don't have the 9th injector hole so your saying to weld shut the hole in the maniflod where the injector sat? Do I understand you correctly? Anyways your saying it can be done and that's all that matters. When the time comes to install it I'll call you

i thought that all slp's are set up for both and all you had to do was plug the holes in the runners if you did not need them

Hey Trigger! Apparently not. SLP made two different sets. One for the 9th injector and one for without, 89-92.
