The date will probably be set to a vote I find that way a bit more fair than myself or someone else picking a date.
I've just got a racing bug in me hehe
Sure let's get this thing as an "official thirdgen ontario" event... vote and all! Maybe even bracket races and all that...
No restriction passing means this will be one hell of a test of drivers...

If you want to do something along the lines of a bracket race as suggested above you may have to come with a handicap system to account for the weight difference between drivers or maybe have different weight classes if enough people show up.
It seems the karts have about seven hp so even a 20 pound differnce between two drivers is a lot.

I've been go-karting on many occasions, and those karts are not all the same speed.
They are each tuned a little different, giving one an advantage over the other, etc.
My buddy and I went go-karting one time, and me and him both weigh exactly the same. We went against each other in a straight line and I was way faster than him, and we both had the pedal floored.
So... not really fair :P

If we raced on the road coarse then it would come down to who is the better driver and the road course sounds like more fun

Easyspeed - you're right about them all being a bit different. I havn't been on one in years but I worked at the Goodwood track repairing the rentals and some were a lot faster than others.
Paul - for sure use the road course but even if the karts were all the same it will not come down who's the best driver it will come down to a combination of who weighs the least, gets the fastest kart, isn't completely inept on a road course and doesn't end up crashing.
Probably better to do this just for a laugh. I don't think it's feasible to balance all the factors required to make it a fair contest.

. You ever been on these things? Tracks are small, lots of cars, its basically a faster version of bumper cars and whoever edges their way on the inside wins.As for speeds between carts, that matters on a big outdoor track where there are straights, but on indoors you will rarely have the pedal mashed for more than 2 seconds at a time. Slippery floors so if you push it you slide out... a lil beer gut can actually help you if you figure it out fast in my opinion. And jeezus people, dont make a competition out of lawnmower powered 50lbs carts, just go for fun... If you make it a race you will just get people whining saying their tires sucked or they kept getting pushed blah blah

Ok Rover, just making sure
. Dont want you splurging on some octane booster to slip in the tank or anything...
Btw, rent the track to keep the granny drivers out, watch some COPS before you go and take notes on how they immobolize other cars, and get blotched, theres no DUI in karts and your safe as far as the the whole tree/ditch/speeding bad judgement goes! (that was a joke to anyone who takes it offensively, so dont start your blah blah blah...)

Paul and I have been discussing how to plan this event. We're going to rent the track and we're going to have a no holds barred bunch of thirdgenners go at it... sounds fun, right?
I personally like the no passing restrictions because there are a good amount of tracks that have strict no passing rules or pass here only zones and it was just plain silly. I've personally been kicked off when it ended up a good buddy of mine and me going at it at a whole 45 kmph trying to run each other into the walls lol. (We did that at another track in the states). heck it wasn't even that bad, I just ended up forcing him to turn wide on the last turn as I got advantage from him forcing me wide on the previous turn.
Either way, its for fun, I'd think its fun to race a bunch of guys that are thirdgen owners like me on a mini 1/4 mile track that actually does have a decent amount of traction and karts that are due a lot more credit than given.

Amen to dat brudda! Me and my friend got kicked off of a 10 minute run after 3 minutes because we got a little carried away and he bumped an 8 yr old into the sand pits lol. That had to be the classiest thing I have ever seen on a cart! I wish I was in TO for this event... You guys set any rough date yet (do xmas, I might be at my relatives
)?

lol me and my buddy went to that 401 mini-indy go-karting place. it was just me vs him, timed, everything. we were going crazy, well not really. let me rephrase, i was going crazy. i would bump him all the time, cuz nobody was watching. i would try to pass everywhere, even on a hairpin turn. the problem was, those things were really fast and the tires had barely any tread.
the end result was, i passed him on the hairpin, but my car spun out, and he t-boned me once he went around the hairpin, and flipped my car on it's side. he hit his face right on the steering wheel, left a nice bruise. i injured my knee big time from the t-bone and couldn't walk for 2 weeks.
BUT AW HELL IT WAS FUN! :hail:

For what it's worth - ELF Petroleum used to sponsor an indoor karting event for F1 drivers. The karts were 100 cc 2 strokes which are very fast and they had guys like Senna and Prost hacking away at each other. It gets shown on Speedvision every now and again.
