I got a PM from Trigger GTA, that he's from Ontario and plans on coming to Thirdgen Nationals '03. Anyone else up for it, I got another guy as well from Canda coming.
Even got one guy from England that will be flying over..

Anyways, I'm sure with all of you , we could make it 200 3rd Gens there easy.. for more info click the pic in my sig. the date is not set yet, as I got the run around and now have to send a letter of intent, but i'm leaning towards June 6-8th.

Hope some of you can make it.

Mark don't jump the gun you still need to set a date and place before anyone will commit for sure.

If you want people from here or any where else that has to drive 12+ hours to get there I would suggest you set one fast. I would need to take off time at work as well as book a hotel etc. and make the drive too.

as for madmax coming from Canada too. you should get a map he would be coming from Winnipeg Manitoba... dam that's a far way to drive. I am not too sure if he know just how far it really is. Its north of north Dakota. he almost 20 hours away from me. it would be great if he went. but don't expect him.

any ways my point is you have to make a date and place soon. and even more important STICK with it.

then see who can make it.

I will have the date set within 1-2 weeks, it would have been this past week but the place never told me I had to send a letter of intent. I'm aiming for June 6-8th.

oh, and what about madmax, I was talking about a different guy from Canada that is coming.

Please click the pic in my sig also for details, but here's a quick run down.

Friday nite is optional with camping, or you can stay at a hotel after hanging out with us campers.

Sat, is the car show part of this, where there will be plaques for several different categories. Also, there will be several vendors there as well, most of the ones that advertise on this site will be there. Thirdgenparts.com I think is the one with the LS1 Vette 91 Vert Z28, will have that car there.
Also, have a bbq, and then camping sat nite, and of course hotels for others that nite. Oh, also, there will be drinking for those that want too

Sun- we'll get up fairly early, I'm tryin to get a police escorted caravan to a nearby racetrack, which should only be a few miles from the campsite. Racing will be optional, and will cost of course a few dollars more than just watching. Also, there will be a portable dyno there, $50 for 3 pulls and a printout.

Hope this answers some q's for you guys, and I'll get that date set ASAP. hope to see most of you there.

Well, anyone that interested, please email me buffshields@yahoo.com with your name/thirdgen name/ and where you're from, just put Canada.

this isn't making a committment yet, just used for updates, and helps me keep track of those that want to come.

Hey, TBI isn't complete garbage after all.

Before my injectors started to die I was getting about 450kms to a tank of gas. That's not to bad.

I'd love to go to this gathering

Dave, who gives a ****. I didn't build my engine to see what kind of fuel economy I could get. I know you didn't. When you're driving down the return lane waiting for the other guy to finish his run, that's when the fuel mileage issue is

You did build yours for power, why cry about the mileage?

Mine's always been a daily driver, highway 550 km a tank, city 400 km a tank. Maybe one day I'll go get a 4th gen for cheap and build that up.

Maybe if we show a little leg, some hot blondes will pick us up, and we can go on a little detour with them.

Dave - sounds like a plan

Paul - city or highway. Of course with the highway I get a little more obviously but with city driving I get 250kms. Lets just say 300kms is the best I've gotten so far with my current set-up. I used to get 450kms. I narrowed the problem down to the 160 thermostat which probably caused my cat to go. The car smells really bad, like gas and when I rev the motor high I get smoke out of the exhaust. Not to much. I think it was black. Anyways, smells bad.Plus I have no pressure in my tank thanks to a leak in the filler neck. I'll be changing the thermo stat to 170 this winter and replacing the tank. I'm hoping my cat is okay. It should be. I passed emmision with flying colours and if the cat was bad the readings would be off the chart.

Personally I think the idea of driving 10 or whatever hours each way is nuts. your talking like 2 or 3 days time and hotel/camp fee, close to 1 oil change and filter, 5 or 6 tanks of gas, decent chance of breaking down just to see some 3rd gens. Im an enthusiast and everything but for 400 bucks and 3 days I can buy/install alotta **** for my car...

5-6 tanks of gas for only 800 miles or so?? ouch, I've gotten 200 miles to a tank before with a non luck up converter.

How much is gas in Canada?

Oh, camping will be about $20 a nite and fits up to 6 people per campsite, hotel will be around $40-50 I think per nite.

Gas is about avg of $1.50 here in the states, just something for you all to add up.

I'm all for this trip, this is why...

1) Gas is a hell of a lot cheaper in the states.
2) Parts are too... would be glad in some way if something broke lol
3) I think road trips are fun.

I lived in the most expensive freaking state in the US, California.. when gas was $1.60 every other state, we had $1.90-$2.00 a gallon... funny thing though, Gas in Canada was more expensive than that and still is... here's a good one... 2 bedroom apartment $3400 US/Month...

To get from Santa Clara California to Toronto Ontario Canada took me a total of 36 hours of driving over 3 days. 3 Tanks of gas a day. Don't ask me my speed...

Oh, forgot to mention, but it's on my site, for you guys, there will be several vendors there as well, from Spohn and a few others at the top of the page, good chance to save some cash on parts.

I'm convinced the US has better gas than Canada!

I once took the IROC to Miami and got....650 Kms on one tank. No BS!!!, although it was with the 305 TPI and the 6 speed and 3.23 gears. Turns about 1500 at 120.

It was like that Seinfeld when Kramer took the Saab out for a test drive to see how far he could go...hilarious.

I filled up with 94 Octane last night at $.84 a liter. 4 litres to a US gallon so thats 3.36 (its usually 50 bux to fill the LSS, premium gas is a must for the supercharger)a gallon. Why are we getting reamed up the dumper?

In a word.. taxes...

It was hillarious on my trip cross continent.. I was averaging 1500 kms a day, but I WASN'T even close to bottoming the tank whenever I decided to fill. I'd hit under 1/4 tank, then wait till I saw a sunoco or some name that i knew had at least 90 octane... Avg price $13-15 a tank x 3 a day for 3 days. $135 US = around $220 CDN On top of that I had a full load of stuff, extra 400 lbs of clothes, computer equipment, small furniture...

Trips to Ottawa, 500 km trips and I bring it down to red and like my last litre of gas. I have nothing but me and a backpack of clothes. Our gas sucks. Avg Price $35-$40 a tank, $360 cross continent but in Canada...

Try This

If you guys are worried about milage, long drive, break downs and all that why dont you get a bunch of people together and have all your cars hauled down on one truck, if you had like 10 or so it shouldnt cost to much.

Might look kinda like this???

3) I think road trips are fun.

1) True, but its still a good chunk o dough. And our gas prices might be high, but when Im in Quebec I say a little thank *** to myself...
2) No way! If you broke down halfway there and had to wait a day for a part or something in some bum town and then miss the meet anyway, that would blow... damn Im pesimistic...
3) Road trips are fun! With a bunch of friends, in a vehicle with with comfy seating, lots of room inside and storage etc... Basically everything this roadtrip wouldnt have
I dunno, thats just my take on this big fiasco
