Bracket Racing details?
Bracket Racing
All you need is a cage and a helmet right? Race around a track with others like my car? Thought it was like that...correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know alot about autocross stuff, but my knowledge of "Braket Racing " Is for drag racing. The only way you need a cage and a helmet for this is if your faster the 12.00's. Are you taking about drag racing Steve? If so, unless your car is going faster then the 12's in the 1/4 don't worry about a cage, you can wear a helmet if it makes you feel better but not required. HTH.
As for racing your car around the touring course I haven't got the slightest clue about that. I'm a Drag Racing kinds guy.

"Bracket Racing" usually refers to drag strip competition- not oval track or the like. What equipment/features/apparel you require is based upon which race body's rule book the particular track follows (i.e. NHRA, NMCA, etc.). A helmet and a cage are not anywhere close to being 'all' you need once you go below a 12-second 1/4 mile time. In fact even on a cage, the number of mounting points and quality of steel and welds vary as you go down the clock. -Between 12.99 and 13.99 seconds ALL you really need is a helmet and a few mickey mouse pieces like a driveshaft loop, redundant throttle return/pull off spring, etc.
If you are referring to 'circle track' racing- then they also have restrictions- the cage and helmet are two of them, driver door netting and replacement of other glass with plexiglass or lexan is another...

My buddy told me years ago that when he lived in London, there was this track that people could go and race at. Everyone would take there mom's minivan and run the **** out of it. I assumed that it was an oval but maybe it was just bracket racing at the strip. If anybody knows about the oval type, I would be kinda curious to learn more. My buddy said that they would post the picture of the winner every week in the newspaper, hence you better hope you didnt win if ya didnt tell maa.

I'm referring to the oval racing or road racing. I seen it on TV and all that I could see the cars had were cages and helmets.
That's why I wanted to put a cage in my car. I wanted to go road racing. If there is anymore things I need to do, please, don't hesitate to inform me,

There's a lot of stuff you're going to need and it ain't cheap ie. good brakes, fireproof underwear, SNELL approved helmet, fuel cell, CASC license etc.

You can only use certain body/engine/tranny etc for certain classes... I don't know of any classes that allow 82-92 f-bodies with a 383 currently except for enduro. I could be wrong though.
Invest in a rule book before you build a car... it will save you alot of headache.

I've got a 1978 Regal Enduro car possibly for sale with a chromoly cage. Looks just like the cup cars from back in the day
No engine, tranny or rear end gears are installed at the moment however.

One thing.... if you wanna race yer daily driver you'll be doing king of the hill... they wouldn't let you in enduro with anything that could be daily driven and you'd be mental to even try cause yer car is gonna come out of the race looking like crumpled tin foil. Alot of jackasses get off looking for guys with the newest paint jobs and straightest bodies just so they can leave their marks. King of the hill is fun tho... just try not to put it into the wall come turn 3

Thats what I'm talking about...using my daily driver to fly around the track. I just wanted to build the car around those specs. Where can you find one of these rule books?

Other than a helmet I dont think there are any rules for King of the Hill. I've seen everything from Civics to full sized trucks run around.
