I'm Gettin Old!!

Its official, I broke down and finally bought a minivan. I'm about 11 years over due I guess (my kids are now 9 and 11).
Anyway its a 2000 Windstar, low km's. Its actually pretty nice.

I still have the Blazer and of course the IROC which now can officially be taken off the road. My insurance agent will suspend the insurance for $5 per month (keeps fire and theft on it).

Just wanted to let all you "kids" know!

Bob

Life will do that to you. Next thing you know you'll be tied to a chair in some rest home shouting Nurse! I need to go again.

I managed to dodge(no pun intended) the minivan purchase this time, convinced the wife to buy a large car instead, as luck would have it the one I purchased has a supercharger. On behalf of all of my friends with mini vans I would like to welcome you to the world of mobile storage. Heaven forbid I might be joining you in the near future....

You may be old but you're not senile. At least you didn't trade in the IROC.
Then we'd refer to you as 2000 Windstar BOB at the track..lol

Hey whats wrong with Mini Vans??? Well...as long as you buy a GM...LOL! I have my Safari, works great and it can haul my car to the track. Can your Windstar do that??? Well I guess mine doesn't count though, after all it's RWD and can pull a trailer. Either or, Mini Vans are great to have, Bob your not gettin old just smarter. Well you did buy a Ford so half smarter.

I am no where near that part of life yet. But I ain't trading in my bird for no mini-van. Get this, my dad had a '79 Z/28. Well, he kept it with me, cause one baby seat could fit in the back. Than my brother was born...byebye camaro. Broke his heart that he had to sell it and find out a week later that some dude wrote it off after smashing into a hydro pole.

But for some odd reason, I'm looking forward to having kids.

Here's some more background. When I bought the IROC in 1995 it was actually our only car at the time. The kids were 4 and 2 at the time. Great family car.

We did this for 3 years. At that point we got a SUV (Blazer) and all seemed well. It now is just not big enough to haul kids and stuff.

We now have the Windstar too and now my Camaro can officially become a "toy" to be taken off the road in the winter.

And to rebutt a few coments Tracey-- SUV's are all just "cool" station wagons (at least that's what my brother kept telling me)

Kaz-- a trailer queen my car is not!!
I prefer to drive it there and back.

To add a little irony, I work for the Chrysler group and now own 2 Chev's and Ford.

I will agree with Kaz on one point though, I am definately getting smarter.

Bob

Hey Man the Dodge Grand Caravan does the trick. How else are you going to get mom, dad, three small kids and Licorish-the-cat from here to there without killing each other ?

No, the mini-van is big enough for all to stretch out in and relax. It gets us from here to there in alot of comfort. The VCR is pretty cool too.

Oh yeah my van makes 210hp and 240lbs torque. Look out Winstars !!!

adious,
RP.

What's he got against SUVs? I love my lil Jimmy, when he runs (all it needs is a 350...). It's great in the winter when it's not choking itself to death.

Besides, I always thought my father's late '80s Chev Caprice station wagon had a nice look to it. lol It was a powerful monster (it once pulled a small pick-up, a trailer, and a decent sized boat up a boat ramp with no help from the truck).

Pathfinders do kinda look like 'wagons though.

Caprice Wagon - used to haul my racing stuff with one of those. Good car in heavy rain - high polar moment of inertia therefor sit at 90 mph no problem.
