I'm trying to guage the group around here, how old is everyone? I have a 2002 Grand Am with that new Ecotec engine in it that I'm modifying, currently runs high 15's, I have blank cams going into it after I get them ground and with a few more tricks I hope to get it into high 14's. But I hate that Sport Compact crowd, really imature! I'm trying to get away from that group, too much heat on it too. I also see a lot less flaming going on here too.
Anyway I am in the market for a 3rd gen, I have loved them since I was teenager when all the gino's had them, the gino's bugged me then, now the gino's drive Honda's and Honda's bug me now, how ironic eh?
Anyway I'm dying for a 3rd gen but I'm curious about the demographics of the owners, post up guys!! BTW, I'm 31.

Welcome! Turning 25 in another month here. Came here while on the hunt for a 3rd gen also.... 5 months later and I found more than I would have expected. Great peep round here.

Yeah, they do. GM got 280+hp out of one in a drag car with the OE bottom end before they broke it. In the end the got close to 1000hp with NOS & a turbo using the the OE valvetrain other than custom ground cams & timing gears, which I have & are awaiting install. The Ecotec is the best 4 banger I have ever owned & driven.
Anyway, thanks for all the posts guys, I know its not about f-bodies but hey, I work with demographics at our radio station(s). Keep 'em coming, too get a true idea I need about 50 replies to the poll.

Basically, take John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever and drop him into the late 80's, add an overdose of Polo cologne, hairspray, Dep gel, overstyled hair do, dress shoes with white socks, (1) daddy purchased f-body & a "I'm King ****" attitude, a la GINO!

They probably didn't have a lot in Arizona, the hair products couldn't withstand the Arizona heat! I hope that gives ya a picture, as scary as it may be!!

I am 21 Welcome to the boards. My brother ha a ecotec Cavalier and that thing is like a little rocket.

 

Yeah they go pretty good and respond well to mods. Mind you, I miss that V8 torque and roar. I used to have a 1980 Corvette with a few minor mods- probably the darker days of Corvette power but it still delivered a lot of neck snapping RWD V8 power, I miss it. That's why I want another GM V8 - they rule!:rockon:

I'm 48 years old. When I was 18 gas was 35 cents a gallon. I could afford the gas but not the parts to mod a car. By the time gas got to $1.35 a gallon, I could afford some parts, but not the gas to drive around getting 12MPG. So where am I going with this? Nowhere. My modded car is in the garage with a full tank of premium.
