You also may have blown the fuel pump fuse under the hood. IS your car a Camaro or a Firebird. Camaros have this fuse on the passenger side near the battery, most firebirds have it on the driverside on the side of the rad support. Looks like this..

Check the ignition coil relay under the distributor cap. I had the same problem and had to replace it. Cost me like $60 or so ( that was 5 years ago ). I had exactly the same problem in my '93 Merc Topaz ( daily sh*t kicker ) last month. It was the electronic ignition coil module ( cost me freakin $130). Anyways hope maybe this helps.
