shift light?

shift light?

i am changeing all my gauges with newer style indiglo gauges and i was wondering if i got a rpm gauge with a shift light on it will it work with and auto? i have an auto th350 with a shift kit..will the light work or can u make if work so when u raceing and manual shifting the light will come on when u should shift rather then watching the rpms?? whats the deal on the shift light and autos? anyone got an auto with a shift light that works?

It'll work on any auto or manual car. It hooks up to your distributor, not the tranny.

I dunno if its my english but are you saying that you want the light to turn on everytime you shift? IMO its usually used to tell the driver when to shift.. lol

You set your light to come on at whatever RPM u want.

So set it, it will come on, then shift. It's as easy as that. BTW, i use a shift light as well.

OH ok i get it...thanks
first post was a bit out there sry, basicaly what i was asking was when u race with an auto sometimes u manual shift through the gears watching the rpms to make sure u dont over do it, i wanted to know if the shift light can be programed to light up at the shift point rather then watching rpms...i no with manual tranny it does this but i did not no if it worked the same with an auto. now i no,
