Laugh if you must, but I almost died tonight... or at least lost my camaro...

Going out to see this chick in mississauga. Driving on the highway, get off on dundas.... I notice on the highway my headlights flickered... it's like they cut out and then turned back on.

Then I was driving down dundas and I notice my voltage start to go down.... I was like... ah **** can't be my alternator or battery... What the hell is going on...

All of a sudden my dash starts smoking like crazy! There was so much smoke I couldn't breathe or see out the car. I look and see wires glowing under the dash. I look at the ground where I have my power seat wired up and the wires are glowing and catching fire.

I slammed on the brakes, turn off my car. I grabbed the closest thing I saw which was paper towel and yanked all the wires out under the seat.

End result: Carpet is toasted. Plastic is burnt. Brand new speakers are ****ed. Fusebox ... interesting... I pulled out the fuse and half of it was still melted into the fusebox. The fuse for the power door locks, interior light and horn is melted to **** in the fusebox.

When I turn my car on (give it power) I hear a noise coming from the center of my dash. It is a buzzing sound.

Man what interesting stories I have with this car.

Anybody have a black carpet for sale? By the way I am getting rid of these power seats, **** them. 95 Z28 power seats, mint condition, any biters?

sooo sad, that car was pristine when you bought it. I hope you know that the effects of the smoke show have permanently destroyed your car. I'm telling you right now, electrical problems bigtime are on your horizon bud.

Didn't you install the electric chair yourself? - should maybe leave stuff like that alone - and qet a fire extinguisher - not one of those ryce bottles either.

If the power seats still work I will buy them back from you.

It was obiously the way you wired your new stereo equipment that caused the problem and not the seat... if you wired that amp into the factory fuse/distribution block, it will melt... that is well known. For any decent amp, you must run the power directly to the battery terminal with an inline fuse and run a ground to the body of the car.

I actually want those seats back... so if they work, I'll give you close to what you paid.

What I really really want is my red ones back from IROCKER.... but he's being tight and won't sell them back.

actually the guy i visited today (electrician) wired the seats in directly to the battery today... he helped me take everything apart and looked at all the electrical and fixed everything... took about 4-5 hours...

so my seats are actually wired under the carpet now...

but i plan on buying seats off thsi guy in toronto... leather seats from an acura 1.7 look amazing almost like corbeaus and he has them on a thirdgen track...

once i get em whoever wants the power seats can have em.

In your case, a fire extinguisher might actually be a useful addition.
