I bought my 89 GTA in June. It is a 305, 5 speed, with 196,000 kms (122,000 miles). After working on it all summer in my spare time (I’m busy between work, partying, band practices, etc), I finally got it on the road Monday night!!! I got the safety, which allows me to drive it with a temp plate. The engine needs a little work (the previous owner had parked the car for about 2 years), but I only plan on driving the car for a couple weeks this fall, so I’ll get the emissions testing done next spring.

I got the car for $1800, which is pretty good since its got almost new tires, a new rad, new clutch, new fuel pump and filter, good front brakes, and the whole front suspension was rebuilt before the car was parked 2 years ago. After all the repairs I have done, I have a total of around $2700-$2800 Canadian in the car. Not too bad eh?

The things I did to the car are:
New proportioning valve
New brake lines and flex hoses all around
New rear rotors and pads
Rebuilt rear calipers
New e-brake cables
New ignition switch
Repaired 3 minor rotted spots (on rockers)
Replaced hatch pull down motor with one from my parts car
Couple new blinker light bulbs and cleaned a couple bad contacts

Future plans for the car include:
Engine tune-up and servicing of emissions equipment to get her running smoothly
New cats (current ones are shot)
New fog lights (1 is broken)
Replace pilot bushing (mechanic says its going bad)
Body work and new paint

The one at work is a 91 TA vert. It is my Bosses car. He has that one, and 2002 TA Vert (Yellow), and a 50th Anniversary Vette! He has great taste in cars.

Great taste in cars for sure... wish I had the money to have cars like that... must be nice

My car's not perfect (she's running kinda rough and needs some bodywork) but its certainly a decent starter for a project car. Its a fun little toy...

What a sad day...
Well, the GTA is off the road for the winter as of midnight last night.... it would have been nice to keep the car on the road a little longer, but sadly funds don't allow me to keep both the GTA and my S10 insured since I got laid off.

I wanted to take my car for a nice drive last, since it will be 6 months or more before she's on the road again... unfortunately, due to a breakdown, the drive didn't go as well as I'd liked. Check out this thread to see what I mean: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=263518

I sure will miss driving the GTA...
