you might be able to find a decent iroc for $3000 but it'll take some time and fast movement... most of the good cheap cars are gone on the market hours after they get on it... meaning if hte autotrader comes out on thursday, you should be on it thursday morning making calls....

i know u can pick up a decent 91-92 RS for around $3000...

if you want an overall decent car, i'd save up another $1000-2000....

Easy is probably spot on. For $3k you'll be looking at an RS if you want something in GOOD shape or you're looking at something pre 89 in ok shape with a 350 in it.

There's nothing special about an RS(V6 or V8) but if you plan on modding the car alot performance wise and are handy that way it can be a good choice. $1000 in suspension mods will have you outhandling any Camaro off the showroom floor easy. Motorwise... well thats another story

Unless you know how to:

1. Rebuild an engine
2. Have the tools to rebuild an engine
3. Have the money to buy all the parts to rebuild an engine
4. Have the space and time to rebuild and swap an engine

I'd say no

The v6 RS is a super dog and the V8 RS is ok but they're still lucky to break into the 15's at the strip these days.

Save more till you can get what you want. Dont make the same mistake twice.

I would wait till I had about 5K or so in hand.

3K will get you something but it may be a little rough around the edges.

Better hurry up or I'm gonna buy it. Just kidding. I only have room for one or maybe 2 more cars before the driveway and garage will be full. I'm gonna hold out and pick up a 69 Camaro when the right opportunity arises. That will complete my collection.

Hey Bigben,

As the guys above have mentioned, I have an '89 Trans Am for sale. I PM'd you a couple of weeks ago but got no response.

I have a potential deal to trade it for a '95 VW Golf and some cash but would prefer an all cash deal.

This is a turn key car that you can do what you want with.

It has 305 tpi auto

Recently done:
Heddman headers
high flo cat
borla XS exhaust
new ractive tips
weld in subframes
calipers/rotors/pads
new windshield
fresh paint last July
KN air filter
gray/black 4th gen seats

Car is red with black/gray interior and has ttops has gold GTA rims.

If you are interested let me know but as mentioned by others above this isn't a $3000 car.

No probs, good luck with the search. If I were you I would wait until you had some more cash. $2000 extra will get you a much better car if you look and be patient. $2000 to spend on a $3000 car goes real quick and doesn't normally get you to the point you would be spending $5000 the first time.

I agree, the difference between a $3000 and a $5000 car is more than $2000.

It's probably not worth buying anything in the $3000 price range - be better off to wait.
