Can't believe the prices of 3rd Gens!

These cars have got to be the best bang for the buck out there right now. There are some incredible cars in the for sale section and guys are sweatin' trying to get 7k for them.

Mark my words, this is the time to be buying 3rd gens if you are planning on keeping one. You will not lose money guaranteed! IROC's and GTA's are going to pull stupid prices someday, you wait and see!

If someone wants to buy a mint 175 hp 81 Z/28 these days, they have to pay 12k and up. Never thought I'd see the day when someone would pay almost 30k USD for an 81 Z/28 but those days are here.

Hmmm, just did a search on Autotrader.ca and I must say there are alot of dreamers out there. There are quite a few 3rdgen converts up for sale right now and what some of these guys are asking is plain stupid. The highest price asked is for an '88 Iroc Convertible with only 21 000 kms on it, he only wants 21G's for it I think I'll should put mine up for sale, anyone looking for a '90 Iroc Z convertible?

I'd be interested if you're serious. If you were to sell it, what would you ask for it? What colour is it anyways?

I agree, but hey, we've all been on the 'sellers' side before. It doesn't matter what car - Shoot high, and try your best to get top $$$ - It's the darn well used cars that I can't belive the asking prices.
A 21000kms car should fetch more than a well used one but hey, at 21G's I'd save a few more and buy a nice '69-73 F body.

Its Triple black, with a custom black leather interior. High miliage car (206,000 ish), it has been repainted by one of its previous owners, many , many new parts, polished plenum, newely refinished rims. Needs a new top and some touch up work. I 'd need to see between 9 - 10 g's for it, hmmmmm maybe I'm dreaming...........

A little cheaper and I'd be willing to talk. What would you replace the car with?

As I am still in the process of looking for a car I am floored at what some people are asking.
I have made three very reasonable offers and I'm still thridgen"less"
I guess with the season just starting up, people will be holding onto their cars. There's nothing worse than people who are, but aren't selling. I had one lady post an ad, I called her, then she tells me that she is re-evaluating her price - Two days later the ad reads $8000.00 more???? We talk over the phone, she takes my offer and tells me that she will call me back in a few days.... I check her ad once again, and her price is back down to the original asking price, yet I still haven't heard from her.
Sorry for the ranting guys, but this is the first time ever, where I have really become annoyed with the whole car buying process. This type of thing has been around in the past, but holy s-it, with the third gens, it's becoming

I saw the car, come to think of it, I have seen most of his inventory - boy does he ever have a pile of Z.
Unfortunately, I looking for a '91 or '92.
There are some really nice cars in Canada as we speak, one in BC, one in Man, both owners are unrealistic as to what they are after dollar wise. BC car, has been on and off the market now twice, owner told me that he had an offer of 14000.00, he needs 15550.00, yet he turned it down. Two months later, he is advertising again, - not to flame the guy, he has a nice car, and has spent $$ on the motor build, but for what the car is, and with what it is comming with and without, IMO I think he is being greedy.

wow, to me it seems they are actually going for quite a bit. I bought my GTA for $4500 like 5 or 6 years ago and sold it for like $6000 last year and short of a ripped drivers seats, and some small stains and **** on the carpet....the car was in awesome shape. and i had quite a bit of cash into it too.
Its easy now to go get an LT1 4th gen for $7000 or less.

Patience is not one of my virtues but i found just what I wanted real quick. 87 Sport Coupe with nothing but T-tops, nice and straight. V6 w/T-5 less than 200K for less than $1000. Just gotta fix the floors and wheel wells like every other unsprayed 3rd gen in Ontario and spray it a better color (don''t like silver) Seemed like there were a few out there to choose from, esp plain ones with 2.8 and 305 auto
