Accident, which body shop?

Some old **** smashed into me. He was doin a left turn and I was going on green, he was still bulldozing my iroc until he pushed my car into another one on the opposite lane of the road he was going to turn to.... Anywho, my car is idle at some crappy shop, I need to find out which collission centre will do the best work. I don't have a lot of money either at the moment.

Damage: front smashed beyond recognition, hood got crooked and popped up, front and rear quarter panels from either side. At the time of collission looked like my antifreeze hs leaked out and engine started revving at full power so i had to shut of the ignition and then put it on park (automatic)... first time in accident, and I had the iroc for a week (no insurance either eek: ).

which body shop would you recommend?

Will post pictures within next 24 hours

Call the OPP; they have a list of body shops which do free repairs for people who drive w/out insurance.

What are the 'side effects' of doing this tho, if there are any. I mean no one does anything for free, so I assume it goes on record and then skyrocketing insurance rates follow... damn me for taking it out uninsured.

Rav3n, do not call the police and explain the situation. Bad things will happen if you do.

but the guy really needs help...

With that much damage I think your best bet is too find a donor and salvage what you can with it..

Then why did you ask.

What came first......the stupid post or the stupid poster?

Really, ask around locally where the best body shops are. I'd start with the joint The Sinister suggested. I've heard his paint is amazing.

Paint?
Judging from the pic, you've got quite a bit of damage there man. I would recommend you go the donor car route or just pickup another half decent thirdgen when you can. Thats gonna be expensive to fix and I doubt it will ever be right again...

And the insurance devils would have written that sucker off.

Did anybody call the police when the accident happened? That looks pretty nasty.

I'm pretty sure that would have been written off. I wonder if that tweaked the subframe. It looks like the whole car is shifted to the left forward of the doors.

There is a pal at where I work, he's already interested in the stocker 350, He's got 1988 Mustang GT... don't know why he wants the engine.

Btw, am I making a mistake, there are 2 more Irocs, proly 1986-7 looked under the hood they got that big round thing on top of engine, carburetted , must be pre 1988... looks like it is 'salvage', I remember one of the guys mentioning parting those out. But that's just bodywork.... mines tpi

That is a write off for sure. Lucky you were not caught with no ins. It's a $5000 fine for the first offence. Ins rates after are not pretty either once you go thru that.

Should have worked out a deal with the old guy right away for him to pay damages since it was his fault. Then got out of there before the cops showed up. Too late now.

Is there damage to the rear of the car? You mentioned rear quarters but I am not sure if you meant they are damaged too.

Mech's in the shop inspected it, said frame is alright.... it's not really shifted anywhere it's just the hood that's making it look like the whole front is ...shifted. Maybe a little tho, see in this pic

If you can wrench yourself then buy used fenders, nose and hood and put it on yourself. The frame thing under the drivers side fender will need to be straightened out. Have a shop do that. Leave the rear quarters for a bodyman. That should save you a tonne of cash if you can go that route.

Or drag it home and part it out.

Or sell it as is right now.

I'd opt for #1 myself.

Man I cannot show any sympathy for you. What if you had hit my car with no insurance? Or worse do you know that if you had hit someone, and they sued you you would have to pay all that off? You deserve to never have a car again, PERIOD! And you drove around for a WEEK without it!

I might be interested as well if youi want to sell it. With or without motor/tranny and rims. My main requirement is the frame is straight and floor not rusted to hell.

You have coverage on your policy for uininsured motorist. It's required by law in ON. Other motorists are not a concern with or without ins. Makes no difference long as there are no human injurys. Your ins. company pays for everything. Hitting a pedestrian would mean big trouble. Could end up paying for that for the rest of your life.

I wouldn't even back out on to the street to move a few cars around the driveway without ins.

AGREED, I know pretty much everything about driving without ins, that's a risk I took and I knew what I was risking.... No matter, no one was killed, otherwise I wouldn't be posting in here for another 40 years.

Guys PM me or mail me at LONGTAILGTR@YAHOO.COM if you're interested in buying parts, some things I might take from it to transfer on to the '91 tho (rims and exhaust)

Dude, I got no papers but a quote and registration in the process at the time of accident, no pink slip...aight? I didn't say I was doing the right thing. I'm not interested in hearing who did what, am interested in what to sell and what to repair and where. Boom, you have an answer? Post it.

The fact that if someone was hurt, and you obviously don't have the money to pay for their legal bills, otherwise,
1. you wouldn't be driving a thirdgen(come on, we all know it's true)
2. you wouldn't be wondering where the cheapest place to fix it is.

The fact that somebody could have got seriously hurt, and not have the finances ready, by you or "an" insurance company, or themselves, to get the treatment they need, and that you think it's "aight" is astounding.

Go big next time, and maybe you can win yourself a Darwin award. Hell, I'd nominate you.

Exactly , thank you ......." Next...?"

lol

Make me your enemy now to fulfill your dire needs.
And no, I don't need cheapest place to fix my car, I need place that would do it best. However, that's just become regardless now since I bought another thirdgen. But no, I had the iroc for a week since I bought it, then I needed to change insurance companies for personal reasons, I will not even talk about that now. And I decided that one morning I was running late for work and... took that iroc. So here we are, and now I do consider myself a reckless driver, so that you know and feel happy. Do you still feel like you can tell me more? Do I sound like I need to hear any of it? DO you think that it will somehow reward you? Think about it, if, however, you still have an urge to be a judge of all earthling go post another topic and let it all out there so that you can, again, feel good but please not here. And thank you for the last time. Wish you all the best

2. you wouldn't be wondering where the cheapest place to fix it is.

Live and learn, learn and live.

Fix the situation as best as possible and hope that you have a decent thirdgen when done.

That's about as poetic as I get.

Oh wait, I remember one...........

You can pick your nose
You can pick your friends
But you can't find a word
To rhyme with orange

RAV3N - I have a decent set of 91-92 rims I'd be willing to trade ya for. I'll be in Mississauga this weekend. If you want to do something, let me know and I'll bring them.

I didn't hit anybody, I got hit. Read on buddy.

I don't drive agressively either. Enough with flamers like you, holy **** you need a chill pill or something. I'll send you some special ones that will treat you and heal you from being so evil to me.
