Okay guys,

I am going to try and get as many of you as possible to meet me in Barhaven this friday where we will then cruise together to Merivale and Meadowlands. Here is the plan:

Meet at the Tim Hortons near Home Depot in Barhaven between 8:30 and 9:00. From there, we cruise together to Merivale and Meadowlands. Guys usually do not show up there until 9:30 anyways because they do not want to compete with the shoppers.

What goes on at Merivale and Meadowlands? A bunch of people sitting around a lot attracting cops- or something altogether different?

 

Same thing that occurs in Kanata on Tuesdays and at Orleans on Wednesdays. The guys behave themselves there and have been going there all summer so no, the cops are cool.

 

No cops. And the lot is large enough that you park a ways away from the Honda Nation representatives.

 

You guys are speaking Greek to me- is this a Cruise Night type of thing with a car club hosting it, or more of a gathering of car fans that just sort of occurs.

For anyone familiar with the Toronto cruise scene- is this more of a Wednesday night at Applewood, or a Friday night at the 400 and 7?

 

Dude - who cares? It's a bunch of us getting together and hanging out with a little bit of cruising mixed in. Some of us belong to the Ottawa FBody Club and some of us don't. We all have Camaro and Firebirds and that's all that matters.

 

It's not an officially sanctioned meet or anything like that. Car guys, and gals, just go there to hang out and chat.

 

How often have you been to the 400 and 7?
I would 1. stay away because the Peel/Toronto Police have been watching, hounding, harassing, etc etc etc... the spot now for over 8years (due to too many late night, early morning street races near by) and thus 2.Poor showing there almost any weekend night at any time...

All said, Many of the local GTA "legal" events are close to over if not over for the season.

I care- especially so as I have to drive an hour one-way to get there and have to convince my wife she's babysitting on a Friday night.

And based on the description I think I can go with the 2nd option- it is something like the Toronto 400/7 meets. How are the police in Ottawa with this sort of thing?

 

Well, I asked the warden for a pass... I'm holding the isurance coverage so I can put the chicken in storage this weekend anyway.

We have plans earlier in the evening but I'm planning to just meet up later.

Cool Ken, see you at Merivale. Haven't seen your car since the Kanata cruise in June.

The guys at Merivale actually cruise from there to Alta Vista around 10:30 so we will actually be cruising twice. Once from Barhaven to Merivale and then for those who are still around at 10:30, from Merivale to Alta Vista.

 

Eric, we can meet in Kemptville if you're planning on going.

The cops don't care about M&M since the proprietors of the site don't care. They cruise through but never hassle anybody. And if they do hassle somebody it's because they deserve it. It's well lit and pretty clean.

 

I've been kicking this back-forth for the last couple of days, but I think I'm out- too many problems this time of year- deer all over the roads out my way, my engine is full of 50-weight oil (-3 degrees out here tonight), and that wife issue.

How about club meets during the winter- does the Ottawa f-body club have bar nights and/or any sort of events in the "off season"?

We are planning on doing some kind of meeting during the winter. Actually I'm thinking of doing a 'Winter Beater Meet'. We usually keep in touch through our Yahoo website. This website will also be a good place to keep in touch. Tonight is sort of the last hurrah and funny enough, the only time we third genners have gotten together this year.
