update on my project car
It’s been a wile from the last update but I have managed to get a lot of stuff done.
First off.
The floor is now back in and totally welded. Just needs some primer to cover the welds ups. The old one was spot welled all over. I took it one step past that and also welded the seams too. I am not going to install the seat mounts or center armrest until I decide what seats will be going in

There were some holes in the strut tower mount. That also needed to be repaired so I took the time to fix that and add in a thicker plate so I will be able to run coil over suspension and not have to worry about it failing under load

that now bring me to where I am now. starting to relocate the gas filler neck and shave off the gas door. the new gas cap is going to be located behind the left tail light. The taillight will swing out of the way for filling
First thing was to cup the hole

Next was a paper template of a box so that the neck and gas cap can be sealed from the cabin of the car. (Stopping gas smells and water from getting in)

Next was to cut the metal and bend it up

Some test fitting and trimming then it’s was ready to weld up

Next part will be to get a new tube made to mate up with the old one from the tank.

Speaking of failing under load - are you going to use a tubular cross member.
Nice work by the way (although I've seen better welds..lol) I wish we had something like the Kitchener Highwaymen Club around here - be nice to have a shop like that. The one I was in didn't work out because it was too far to drive there.

Nice work Trigger. I thought the welds looked great. Nice touch with the relocated filler neck. I can hardly wait to see all the other cool mods you are going to lay on that thing.
