Torque converters

Anyone here use a B&M tork master or could recommend a good one?
I was looking at getting a 2000 or 2400 rpm.
Would be a stock/mild 350 engine setup.

Re: Torque converters

Stalls are a lot like stereos... Ever notice how cheap ones all claim their like 500 watts?? But when you buy a good high end system their only 1 or 200 watts but are three times as loud and ten times clearer?

If your going to bother with a stall at all I recommend respectively

Vigilante, Yank, Coan, Art Carr, edge, TCI, an d to be honest by the time you get to TCI I think I would rather just get the $90 Markham converter modified stocker. THey work just as well as the cheaper series of stall B&M included.

However... A good stall is worth its weight in gold. The difference in launch is pretty dramatic. Go for a ride in someones car who runs a Vigilante and see for yourself.

Just for reference; what is it that you don't like about it.

MAybe because it runs just like stock..I had an S10 converter and bumped it to its max stall and it was good for 1.899 60ft times on street tires.(This was with a 383EFI IROC)

Re: Torque converters

I've used converters made by TCS in Langley, BC. They work pretty well.

a tenth is a car length at the end of the 1/4 mile.A tenth faster on the 60 ft times is 2 tenths faster at the end of the 1/4 mile.Best 60 ft I had with the same tires was 2.3s

Re: Torque converters

Oh ok, I can make up two tenths in a corner just by wringing the car out a bit more - no mods or tuning necessary..lol

Ya but that still doesn't fix the main problem which is the driver issue....

Re: Torque converters

The TCI just feels very sloppy and barely stalls any more than my stocker did... I am no tranny guru, but I swear this thing is crap... I will go as far as letting anyone drive my car before they go and drop money on one to steer them in another direction!!lol Converters are very pricey so save up and get a good one, don't waste money like I did. Just so everyone knows, I have the 11" 'Breakaway' I believe?? It's been a few years so I could be wrong about the name.
