Break System

Well I have a 1987 Camaro IROC Z28

I am extremelly happy with the car the last 5 years

But I don't know with you guys have the same problem that I have I feel the brakes of my IROC not enough for the kind of car that is.

I though in the begging the problem was the break system. so I replaced everything from booster and master cilindres to all 4 calimpers.... break lines and proportion valve....and still the same.....

It's normal the weak break system?

Tks

Re: Break System

The rotors are only 10.5"..so not a ton or brakes on these cars unless you got the 1LE system.
You should have replaced your fronts with the C4 (corvette) HD conversion available from ebmiller. That would be a wicked setup.
What pads are you running?
I still run Performance Friction Carbon Metallics with much better results than OE type pads. Check the brake board and see what guys are running. I think Hawkes ibrand is a good pad..

Do a search on the brake board...pads are easy and cheap to change.

My car is fairly fast and I run it around the Mosport GP Track with just the stock J65 setup from 1983, cheap azz blank rotors and Bendix pads. Only brake mod so far is Earl's lines and I removed the dust covers for cooling.

There's a couple of corners where they fade away just as I'm done with them but for street use I'd say the stockers are adequate although C4 or C5 would be nice to have.
