1982 race car build at schmitt tuning
newest build at schmitt tuning is this 1982 chevrolet camaro.
it is going to be built to scca spec to run gt2 or gt3 at regional events.
car is already fitted with roll cage.
budget is super tight for this build so the plan is to fabricate as much as possible while leaving the
available moneys for tires, suspension and brakes.
the car will get an ls1 t56 combo, ls1 front and rear brakes
and a ton of aerodynamic mods.
the idea is to maximize aerodynamic efficiency of the car.
the mods include:front adjustable splitter and rear diffuser. addition of skirts to the factory units, rear wing, and side vents for front and rear wheel wells.
if the budget allows, i would also like to replace all the glass with lexan for its light weight characteristics.
the drivetrain will be relocated 8-10 inches rearward and 2 inches lower for better weight distribution and overall balance.
this will also allow for more room in the front of the engine to redesign and build a better air damn for the radiator and coolers aswell as creating an exit for the air through the
hood.
the deadline is april of 2013. so progress hopefully will be speedy!
the fab has begun.

I have a mostly complete dry sump package off my 85 IROC. Needs a pan.
Also a set of wheels and 888 tires from the track.
Message me for info.

Be nice to see another thirdgen in GT next year.
I think there's some rule changes coming for 2013 but it might not effect sprints. May effect the challenge races and the 3 hour races though. Something to do with power/weight ratio and a bunch of classification crap - could be a PITA but now is the time to see if there's anything that might effect your build plans and head it off before it's a problem. Doug can explain more about it.

I can bring it down to test fit. Can't beat the price and added safety.
I will be selling my Kirkey Deluxe once it is installed.
