Turn car off then wont start for a minute

I just swapped in the TPI L98. The car starts and idles fine and revs good (no road test yet) When I shut the car off it takes about 1 minute before it will start back up, and again runs fine until I shut it off. Any ideas?

define 1 minute before it starts?

Does it crank and not fire off? or is the entire car completely dead for a minute?

If it cranks but takes a while to start your fuel pump could be cheese'n out on you

pumping just enough to idle off of

The fuel pump is about 3 days old. After I turn the car off and immediately try to restart it hardly fires at the beginning of the start attempt and then continues to crank without a fire at all. If you wait about 60 seconds with the ignition off it will start up and idle until you shut it off.

Did u swap in an L98 complete setup? Meaning... did you install the complete L98 (motor, TPI, etc)?? If so, you probably got one that had leaky injectors. Mine does this as well... the injectors leak until there is no fuel pressure left in the lines. After that, you must wait for the gas to dry up... basically the same as flooding.

L98 I did swap in a complete TPI setup from an 87Formula (L98). The motor had about 90k on it when I got it (may be original injectors). Is your car still doing this? That is very bad for our cylinders, if it is the case. I just spent my $load$ on the engine rebuild. Is ther anyway to help the injectors out with a cleaner or something to prevent them from leaking off?

TPI_ROC, i am pretty sure it is firing because it hits briefly at the beginning of the restart.

Sounds like they are the original injectors.

Yes mine still does it. There are only two ways to fix it. You can either buy new injectors or, if your injectors are salvagable, get them cleaned and blueprinted by someone like TPIS for $80-100. If you are referring to a cleaner like STP injector cleaner that you put in the gas tank... it may clean the injectors out, but will not stop leaking at all.

Your best bet would probably be to pull your injectors and send them out to get cleaned properly.
