CAI the simple way
I have already made a costom cai on my V6 but on this TPI is looks even easier. Couldn't I just remove the airbox, and stick a airfilter on the end where the intake tubes went. And than drill a little hole in the tubing for the IAC sensor than it should be all good right. Also What Cone KN airfilter should I use. On my V6 I used a 3 inch spectre filter and works great.
V8s don't have an IAC temp sensor in the airbox like the V6s do. They have an MAT sensor in the plenum in it's place. So you really don't even need to worry about that.
On the other hand, if the TPI uses a MAF sensor, there's not really enough room to just stick a cone filter on the end of it and call it done. A 90-92 Speed Density TPI doesn't have the MAF sensor, so you can stick a filter directly onto the throttle body and call it done. Also, by definition, a Cold Air Induction brings in air from a source isolated from the engine compartment so that it's not sucking in hot underhood air. What it seems like you're describing is more like "open element induction".
