LT1 Intake Info Please
LT1 Intake Info Please
Does anyone have any dyno test/guesstimations of the power increase, if any, an LT1 intake set up will do to a stock L98?
Also, how much hp can it support? Would it be a good choice for a healthy 350 with a nice cam and a set of 195AFR's?
Also, what else is needed other than the modded intake? I believe you need new fuel rails as well, anything else? How much would it cost for the total set up? Sorry for all the questions, but I can't wait any longer to suup up my L98 and don't want to blow 1200 on a mini ram. How does the Lt1 intake compare to a mini ram? I heard they are fairly similar.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I don't have a dyno around so I use track "mph" to determine HP gains. Based on an increase in 1/8th mile trap speeds of 4 mph I would say it made a solid 40-45 HP at the rear wheels.
Excellent, thanks for the reply. John, what's the deal with the egr problem? Does this exist with all heads? Is there a way for me to correct this problem? I'd like to give you some buisiness as soon as the kinks are worked out. Does the problem lie in the heads or the intake? Once again, sorry for all the questions, I'm just hungry for info so I can get the ball rolling on everything.

The EGR problem lies in the heads. Stock heads have large EGR ports in the center of each head and there's not enough LT1 intake flange to cover the entire hole so some exhaust gas will get into the lifter valley.
With aftermarket heads it's usually a differant story. Some don't have EGR ports so no problem there. Others have a smaller round hole that is covered by the intake flange or easyly plugged with something.

Once again, thanks for your input. Do you happen to know offhand of any heads without an egr port? I'm gonna go do some research and see if I can get a pair of AFR's with no egr. I'll tell ya what I find

AFR will do "anything" you ask. EGR, no EGR for example.
They will even put a LT1 intake bolt pattern on standard heads if you ask, thing is "no returns" after that......

who makes a 'real' gasket w/o the egr hole?
Have you notice that the egr port is not completely covered by the intake flange even when using a gasket w/o the egr hole on stock heads?
It is definitely not recommended.

Mr Gasket makes an intake gasket without EGR hole. It's p/n 5820. Here's a picture.
