How do I get this darn thing off?!?!?!
There comes a time in a man's life where he must give up something he cherishes dearly. But in this case, I'm ready to get rid of it......I have finally found an engine for my car, and I'm trying to remove the tuned port from my engine to put on my new engine. but it's a stubbourn SOB. Is there a special way I need to go about getting this thing off the block? I appreciate it........

Not in one piece. You have to disassemble it to remove it. Throttle body, then plenum, then runners...

Yeah, the injection needs to be taken off piece by piece. You can leave the throttle body attached to the plenum however.
Remove the plennum/tb.
Remove the runners. There are bolts coming from the back of the runners as well, youll need to get to them from the oposite sides.
Remove the fuel rail.
Remove the intake manifold.
Installation is reverse of removal!

Just kidding. (well, you do actually have to take them out
)
No real trick. Just start at the top and work your way down piece by piece. Throttle body first, then throttle cable, plenum, runners, things on the base, and then the base itself.
On a side note... I've got a head that I can't get off. Any ideas?

Well, I have most of the blots taken off now, but the thing still doesn't want to come off. That and there is on bolt still on there on the right side on the top at the back that won't come off. I'm having the hardest fuc*ing time w/ it. I think I stripped it while trying to take it off. I'm not sure though. I am supposed to use a hex head when trying to remove everything.....right? It's worked thus far on most of the bolts, but I don't know how to get the rest of them off b/c the car has been sitting for 4 years and everything is either stuck on.....or is about to fall apart. Nothing noticeable on the outside, it's all under the car from the stupid weather. Any suggestions on how to loosen the bolts up just a smidge?
You need a t40 torx bit for the runners and a t45 for the lower intake IIRC. Just make sure the bit is seated good and there is no crap in the head of the bolt. What I had to do one time with a stripped runner bolt, was to gently hammer in a t45 in place of a t40 and use that to get it out. I can't think of any other way that doesn't involve JB weld to get one out. Hope this helps!

What does one of those look like? Our whole freakin' one car garage has soooooo many tools in it I don't know where to start. I know tools by look, not really by name. I know where everything is when it comes to the tool box, though, b/c that's organized. That and we have probably 4 of everything, so it shouldn't be hard once I know what I'm looking for. Prom is this Sat. and I'm screwed on the engine I found b/c I'm having to spend $120 on a tux, plus dinner, corsage, entry fee.....
the list goes on. I'm glad I can always come home to my car, she always likes the things I get her, and never tells me I'm inconsiderate.....LOL. If only my car was running, that would be pimp...NOPE. I'm stuck having to take my friend's dad's new PT Cruiser b/c he's taking his date's dad's 76 Corvette Stingray  .....Oh well, it'll all be over soon......OH yea, T40 and T45, all I need is a description and I can find it. HA HA HA, I just had to get all of that out b4 I exploded. Thanks--- Member

the torx tool looks like a screw driver but the head kind of resembles a hex head, but has a little different shape to it.(just came from the store looking for one so i can take out my tb, plenum, and runners so i can clean and then bore the runners) hope this helps you out.
Torx bits are star shaped. The T40, T45, etc names are just how you name different sizes. A T45 is slightly larger than a T40. If you don't have a set of torx (star) bits, you should go to the hardware store of auto parts store to pick up a set. They'll work much better than an allen wrench.

Alright, I'm sorta in a goat fu*k....That one bolt that wouldn't come off...still won't come off. I've tried everything. After I found out what a torx tool was, I found that I had some in the box...but my bolts are T30's and the fu*king tool just spun in there when I used the air drill on it. So then I thought I had a genious idea to use a flat head screw driver to get it off by using the grinding wheel to cut it out like that.
I swear I come up w/ the stupidest ideas...I hit up O'Rilley's to see what they had to say, but they couldn't help me b/c the car has been sitting for 3 years. The runners are firmly set onto the Plenium (or how ever you spell it) Any more bright ideas, b/c mine don't work
Thanks......

:lala: The flat screwdriver jammed in there doesn't sound like all that bad of an idea since it sounds like you're getting down to last resorts. I've had to do that on smaller torx screws before. Maybe you can grab the head of the bolt with vice grips, channel locks, or some other kind of pliers to start it that way?

I am down to last resorts. I tried using channel locks, but the head on the bolt is small and they keep slipping. I've pinched my hands so many times that I'm not going to try that again. I'm going to try the screw driver thing again today or some day when I'm not really pissed off at it, otherwise I'll do some serious damage to the car when it doesn't do what I want it to do. Thanks for not telling me I'm a fu*king idiot for the stupid sh*t I tried......anything that might be able to loosen the bolt up?

I am not sure if you tried this or not yet and I am not going to reread it again. try a good chizzle from the side of the bolt head so that it spins the bolt as you hit it. 30 deg. angle should be good. if that only shaves off the side then do the same to the other side and try the vise grips again now that you have two flat surfaces to grab.(use flat jaw VISE GRIP brand ones)
