Vette aluminum heads cfm?

I have a pair of Vette aluminum heads. Off the same engine but
2 different cast numbers. One is a D port # 10088113 and
the other is not a D port # 14101128.

Are these heads worth porting or will the iron 350 heads like
the ones rhuarc30 is porting provide better flow?

Lot's of people have gotten good results porting the aluminum heads, I have not personally done a set of them so have no first hand results to give you. In general though I would not use 2 different heads on the same engine, even if the differences were only minor. I'd go with the D port 113 heads and just purchase one to match it. Shouldn't be too expensive, then you could port them. Be careful with porting though, aluminum cuts MUCH easier than iron so you can quickly ruin a set of heads if you are not careful.

My iron head project is mainly to show that the stock iron heads have plenty of potential and can make plenty of power. Most stock heads have plenty of room for improvement like that. I would wager that you could do a similar porting job to the aluminum heads and obtain good results. The smaller chamber will keep you to smaller valves is all.

Hope that answers your question.

Excellent.

Now how far can they be ported?
The walls and roof look thin but the short side
radius seems to be fairly thick.

The car never came from the factory with 1 D port and one non D port head. Sounds like you got a mungrel. I'd find another d port head if I were you. Using 2 different heads isn't doing your motor any favors.

I knew they were mismatched and I need to find another D port.

Anyone have a D port vette head they want to sell?

Nobody has ported flow numbers for these things?

Ligenfelter is the porting champion when it comes to these heads. He's managed to get some amazing horsepower out of countless corvettes with stock ported heads.

Actually, these heads with a full race port through Doug Rippie Motorsports or Hi-Tech Racing here in MN have ported them to flow 260 cfm at .500!!!!!

However, this is a full race port and costs like $1200-$1500. It shows the potential however and this setup is fully hand ported, hence the expense.

I have a set of mildly ported #113 castings that are bare right now that I am interested in selling. I just bought a set of Aluminum Pro Action 220 castings, so I don't need these anymore. Email for details if you are interested.

But definitely get at least ONE more #113 casting...running two different head castings is always a bad idea.

I think you will have better results from the D port heads vs Iron. Also, porting for velocity and not peak air flow is what you want in flow. I think a fully ported set of these heads could support 450hp. Why don't you enlighten this thread on what you trying to do with the heads.
