Top End motor buildup ? Would it be worth....

Wondered if it would be worth it to put the lt4 hotcam, Afr 195 heads, Accel (miniram) Base intake, AFPR and headers on and leave the runners and plenum etc. stock for now and upgrade them when I get money or would I just be wasting my time unless I did it all at once?

I want to get my heads, cam, intake, and headers on the car but I really don't have the cash to fork over for the runners etc. right now. Should I wait or swap what I can?

If you ran AFR 195s with a siamesed accel base, stock runners, ported plenum and a LT4 hot cam you could run mid 12s with the right fuel system, tuning and torque converter. That SAME set-up has gone 11.9 in mike davis's car, a full weight 85 Z28 with the only difference being ASM LTRs & Vigilante torque converter. But damn right do the heads cam and base first, siamesing the base being key to letting it breathe.

Thanks for the help man....1 more question..... Hooker Supercomp shortie's (1 5/8) or should I save up and get the Slp 1 3/4 shortie's w/ AIR Delete? I plan to do the Headers the same time as the heads/cam/intake....

Definitely run at least the 1 3/4 if you want to get the most out of that combo. 1 5/8 headers would definitely be your biggest restriction, even with stock runners on a deep breathing combo like that. Or if emmisions are never a concern (in OK and all) you might as well go all out and run the hooker supercomp long tubes. They're definitely the hot piece in the faster cars w/ the mufflex Y pipe.

That was an exaust setup I was thinking about (3 1/2" or 4")....the only problem I have w/ that would be the ground clearance from the headers....the roads out here in OK suck....potholes, bumps and every crappy thing on the road you can imagine...some roads are good but 90% of them suck . How would the ground clearance be w/ the long tubes?

Waiting for the gods of the 3rd gen to answer..... :hail:
