Whats your plans for the pad below the spark plug. I took mine off completely, but since then I think I should have left it but reshaped it.

I will leave it there. I assume it is a filler to reduce chamber
volume. I looked at it for a while and think it may have something
to do with manipulating the combustion process.

Its been referred to as a 'swirl pad'.

I looked at the factory headers off the vette engine today.
They still have the gaskets stuck to them and I just had to laugh.
The headers have the bolt holes in the normal position so they
are not centered over the exhaust port. Why make a header that
don't line up with the port? It's nuts, you can easily see that the
bottom of the header opening is below the exhaust port.

Also, running the micrometer through the ports on these different
heads shows the older 128 head to have a larger cross section
area than the 113 head by quite a bit. 1.4x1.36 average for the
128 and 1.32x1.28 average for the 118 head.

I have to get some numbers on these 128 head exhaust ports
to see what they flow after being ported. I think they just have
to outflow the 113 head by a long shot.
