Lets play find the coolent leak!! :)
Lets play find the coolent leak!! :)
So, I pull into work the other day and smoke starts pouring out of the hood on my '86 Z. I opne up the hood, and it appears that alot of coolent found it's way to the Y-pipe and that started all the smoking, which leads me to an interesting problem. What is back there that could leak coolent? I checked the 2 hoses that go to the heater core and they're dry. The only thing I can think of is the intake gasket but could one really cause that much coolent to come out? The only other place that I found coolent that seemed odd was in that valley underneath the rear set runners on the pass. side. There was a small puddle on the intake manifold. Am I looking at a broken intake manifold gasket? I've never really seen one fail especially under only like 15 psi. I just thought I would put it up here to see what you guys thought before I take off the intake. Thanks.

My car used to leave puddles on the intake as well.. turned out to be the gasket on the TB where the coolant passes 'thru' (under really) the TB. (The IAC is located in the same piece/passage thingy)
I didn't even think of the TB I'll check that out first and if it isn't that then it looks like the intake is coming off.
Any other ideas are still welcome. Thanks again guys you never let me down.
