TBI Distributor?

Im going to the stealth ram soon, I need a new distributor, people say I can use the 88(?) and later versions with the remote coil. My friend pulled his '89 305TBI out of his car,

its an '89 with remote coil, could I use his, he asked me something about needing vaccuum advance?

I didn't see any cam stuff in your sig, so it looks like you'll need a new dizzy gear.

Yes, TBI and TPI distributors will interchange.
They both have the same harness connector and
are electrically identical.

No, you will need to use your gear on your buddies distributor.
The gear on his distributor will eat your cam.
