Best Combination of Heads and Cam??
Best Combination of Heads and Cam??
i keep posting this question, but im not gettin many replies, i just want to hear some combination's you guys are running with and what you think of them, i would like run 12's but atleast mid to low 13's in the 1/4 mile, so im trying to get an idea of what i want to spend my money on, ive heard good thing's about the AFR head's but as far as a cam goes im not sure what brand or what lift to get.....please help Thanks -Don
I run AFR 210's Race ready, and a custom solid lifter cam to go 11's NA in the quarter. As far as the cam goes, brand name isn't that important, and total lift is less important than the duration and valve acceleration. I personally like Comp cams, but the GM HOT cam is 50 bucks cheaper, and Crane and the others all make good products.

if this is a daily driver, I don not recommend a solid roller cam. I would go with the comp cams 282 xtreme energy hydraulic roller. It has .510I and .520 lift. This is a nice streetable cam and good for a 350. That and the AFR heads should put you in the low 13's easily
what is the differece between solid roller cam and hydro roller cam?? and if i go with afr head's, which one's should i go with? 190 or 195 or higher? i do wanna run this on as a daily driver, pretty much anyways

hydraulic uses hydraulic lifters. The solid roller cam is just not for a daily driver car. If you feel like adjusting things every 2 weeks or so, then go with the solid roller cam. The solid roller cam has more potential of revving than a hydraulic roller because of less valvetrain weight. The AFR 190's or 195's will be fine. I belive they are both the same price. I would just go ahead and get the 195's. And go with a hydraulic roller cam.
Oh yeah, i didn't mean to be recomending a solid roller, sorry. I was just saying what I ran since he asked. Definitely go with a hydraulic roller if the car's gonna be for the street. BTW I only have to run the valves every 6 months, not 2 weeks

I just built my engine and used TrickFlow heads and a Summit flat tappet hyd cam 206/214 dur @.050. The engine runs strong and according to the "Desktop Dyno" it has 400-407 ft/lbs of torque from 2000-4500 RPM. Which ought to do real well in a street car.

A 108 LSA will probably cause problems with vaccum.I'd stay at 112 or above.
