temp gauge and fan question
temp gauge and fan question
I just swapped a 355 into my 86ta with 305tpi. the fan does not turn on and the temp gauge in the car does not work right now?? i Know the gauge is not bad because when i start it the gauge sweeps all the way right then back to 0. I am about to take it to the exhaust shop to get the exhaust welded to the headers but i want to have a fan so it doesnt over heat how would i wire it right now then fix the problem later??

I was having the same problem with the temp gauge myself. Check the connection on the sensor for it. It's on the drivers side of the engine between plugs 1 and 3. On mine the wire was just wrapped around the end of it and started falling off.
As for the fan, if all the original wiring is there, you can just put a switch under the dash. Run one end to the green/white wire coming off the wider connector on the ECM. The other end should go to ground.

ok thanks. Ill try that fan wire to the ecm. also I looked on the motor and i overlooked the two sensors in the head i have the one for the temp gauge on the driver side and the one on the pass side is not there so i am just going to control the fan manually. I was wondering where the plug is for the coolant sensor i cant find it i have been looking!!! can anyone post a pic
