Can someone help me with choosing a cam?
In search for the low 12's N/A I have came up with a 355 with 10.3-10.5 comp. I have 3.73's also. I will be going to an LT1 intake. I was wondering what is a good streetable cam that is possible to get low 12's on the motor. I will have my stock L98 heads for the time being. (saving money for AFR 190's ) But they will me ported to flow a decent number. I was thinking the LT4 hot cam. with possibly the harland sharp 1.65 ratio roller rockers to increase the lift at the valve from 525 in- ex to 551 in ex. Are there any other popular cam grinds that have been proven to pull low 12's on a short runner style intake? Thanks for the help. Im sorry everything is vauge but I gotta start listing my my parts soon.
Thanks,
Chris

i think you could do a cc305 grind. that would get ya some good numbers. i'm not sure of the specs but its bigger than the hotcam but not a ton.
if someone knows the specs please post
the main thing you need to watchout for is can you get stock diameter springs that will hold the lift or else you will have to have your heads machined anyways. i don't know if you were gonna port the heads yourself or not but you might want to find out on the springs before you get done with the heads so you don't have to take them back to the shop.

Not to be rude, but all the cam manufacturers will be happy to give you reccomendations all day long, just tell them your running a miniram instead of the LT1 so you don't confuse em
. Most of us will be too of course, but it does seem like a bit of an overasked question around here, I'm starting to feel like a cam rep.
Having said that, to complement the lt1 intake you'll want a cam that will rev to at least 6500. If your really gonna be going with the afr heads you'll as well you'll want to factor that into your decision due to the better flow and velocity, especially on the exhaust side. I'd go with something around 226-228 intake/232-234 exhaust duration @.05. It'll be a too big at first, you'll lose some low end, but you'll scream up to 6500, but if you follow through with the rest of the mod's you'll be fine. You'll want a converter for sure though.
BTW you'll need to mill down the valve guides on the stock l98 heads to get that kind of lift. They'll only handle to about .480 stock. Oh and look for part 4 of my L98 iron head series in the next coupla days. I won't go into the details but I managed to pull out another 8-10% more flow, which put's 'em real comparable to the afr 190's.
